Amazing insight as usual. The match was just incredible and you could see the amount of frustration building up inside Medvedev.

Very sad ending for such an amazing fight

Goffin got indeed very seriously injured in the eye after indirect bounce volley from Dimitrov, it made it difficult for him to come back after that. I really hope the Chinese fan is okay

Mind boggling that a 40 yr old can play such long rallies over and over and keep coming up on top and that too back to back days against Zverev and Medvedev. Beast of a human!

Thank you Nick for the quick coverage❤. The ending made me sad for both the spectator and Med. I totally agree with you. No balls should be hit into the stands even when the match has ended.

In club tennis, most injuries happen after the point is over and someone slams the ball in anger.

Andy Roddick actually has a guide for 'safe' racket smash and ball hitting in anger

100%. This behaviour has got to be trained out of players. No spectators health should be put at risk due to the petulance or uncontrolled emotion of players. It seems the powers that be are just waiting around for someone to get seriously hurt before they do anything about it. Automatic DQ if you hit an uncontrolled ball in anger or throw a racket.

I love how Novak didn’t bother playing in the ATP finals the last couple of years when he did qualify. But once the qualification was uncertain, he’s like i’ll show you.

Inat all the way :)

Would the tennis tournament or player be liable if the spectator loses the eye?

@joelmacinnes2391 19 hours ago

When Fils did it vs Vacherot I was appalled, glad to see some consequences for it today

@JSmithHendricks 23 hours ago

You’ve been calling this happening for a long time

Greetings Intuitive, there's something very special about Nole's relentless pursuit of greatness- it's a spiritual strength that keeps pushing this man on. We are the most blessed tennis fans to be able to enjoy this man for as long as we have had him. May we never forget to appreciate his commitment to the sport. 🙏

I’m a huge Danil fan, yes it wasn’t intentional to hit the spectator, but it was intentional to take a swing at the ball. Danil should be aware that things like this could occur.

Djokovic has maintained his winning records against Zverev & Medvedev since his lost in Olympic SF 2021 & USO Final 2021 respectively

While playing dubs in high school, I was at net with a partner serving. They caught or toss or two, said 'Sorry, wait' or something, then went back into their motion. I turned to look over my shoulder at the 'wait' comment... and received a serve full in the face. Looking backwards at that angle, the tennis ball slotted near PERFECTLY into my eye. Emergency room, surgeons called in, scans, checks... I'm in a near panic the whole time, I can't see, and expect to lose vision my vision. Happily enough after a month of (non-surgical) treatment, wearing an eye patch and resting, my vision was getting back to normal.

Always an automatic DQ if someone is hit.

@jimduncan2164 11 hours ago

It was barely a lob. No real power or anger.

@SaadKhan-pm1tm 22 hours ago (edited)

5:40 Ignore anyone who tells you you're being dramatic. If they were the ones getting hit by the ball, they'd be the first ones complaining about those players.
