The only jets that are armored are ground attack aircraft particularly ones meant to fly low and do anti-tank and close air support. The A-10 and the SU-25 are really the only two that are armored and currently in service. If it doesn't need armor it doesn't get any as the weight is taking place of either fuel or munitions. As for gun caliber the US is mainly 20mm while Russian is 23mm to 30mm (30mm is pretty much the standard now). Only the early jets from the Korean war used .50 cal as they were still close up dogfighters and those were quickly replaced.
The "experimental" written on the inside of the cockpit is a legal thing. Most civilian owned military aircraft in the U.S. can only be registered as experimental because they have not been certified by the FAA. The experimental registration gives you a lot more freedom on maintenance as well. Basically it lets you take more risks so long as you warn people ahead of time.
I would have loved to have seen Scott shoot from the front of the plane into the front of the canopy towards the head. That would have been fantastic visually
The 20mm that they have in fighter jets is actually designed to take out the aircraft engines, so that it drops from the sky and is no longer in the fight.
20mm is going to go on through the plane completely. Probably cut the zombie torso in half as well. 20mm is basically an anti-aircraft round. So yeah, it's going to go through that plane. Like a 5.56mm going through a soda can.
The aircraft would be to heavy to fly if it was bulletproof. I am a licensed aircraft mechanic. The most that they ever did was steel plates on the back of the pilot seat during ww2.
Blue ammo for these guns denote Training, you can see Blue shells for the 40mm Chalk Training rounds. Probably makes them easier to see or look Obvious as Training if the whole projectile is that color, since no round would be painted like that otherwise (Blue Strip or tip on Live ammo would denote something else, such as HE).
24:40 So I went to go check out your reaction to this video and I realized I USED TO WATCH YOU! I thought you sounded familiar! You rebranded? When did that happen? Glad I rediscovered you by chance
