Doris Duke: The Murder of Eduardo Tirella, 1966

They Got Away With Murder

Doris Duke was wealthy, obscenely so. She inherited her father's tobacco fortune when she was just 13 years old. Naturally, she was used to getting her own way in everything, and when she didn't she got angry - occasionally she became violent... She stabbed one of her many lovers during a row, and in October 1966 she got away with the murder...

A number of people have asked if they can help support my channel - I don't have any adverts on my channel (and don't intend to) but if anyone wishes to help defray the expenses of making these videos in some small way, they can buy me a cup of coffee! https://www.buymeacoffee.com/MarkJohnMaguire

All the money in the world and it couldn't buy her any morals, but it did buy her way out of responsibility. Poor Eduardo... should've phoned in his resignation.😔

A very blatant and obvious miscarriage of justice. It's always scary to be reminded that there are people like this in the world. And I don't think she treated him like a servant. I think she considered him her possession, bought and paid for, with no rights at all

Eduardo was an absolute loss to the world 😢.
🙏🏼❤️ for his lover, family and friends.

The reason that you are a great writer, is your understanding of people.

I don't think she was used to ever having anyone tell her no, and this was the result when it finally happened. Thanks for another great video!

I had never heard of this case before. What a desperate shame for Eduardo, all that talent stolen by the hideous Doris. How sad for his Mum and family. Thank you for such an excellent summary.

Ahh, how lovely. The music means I can snuggle under the quilt with a mystery revealed! Thanks so much, Mark. You are appreciated.

Doris looks like the early Barbie doll, fondly known as 'Dominatrix Barbie'.

A very keen and profound analysis of the personalities involved.

The dreadful consequences of a silver spoon upbringing,I feel she felt completely entitled to behave in any way whatsoever.
Utterly shameful !
Another gem from this great channel. 😊

Thanks once again. A seriously unpleasant woman. I enjoyed your phrase ‘constitutionally paranoid’ and have to say as a designer that your photo of her bedroom shows a scheme that’d I’d honestly describe as one of the worst and most uncoordinated I’ve ever seen…..an absolute shocker.

I've always enjoyed your illustrations. That one where poor Eduardo is standing at the gates and seeing the station wagon come at him is especially striking. You certainly showed us Doris Duke's malice. I see rage and hatred in her reflected eyes.
