Greenland isn't over... it was too hot, so he taco'ed, but did not change his mind.
Trust is gone, we are building alternatives, too late, but better late than never.

As a European, I'm happy to say that we're going to give the USA exactly what it wants: isolation. We're already making new trade deals and pulling out of the USA, with European investment in the USA down 50% in 2025. Just consider what that really means for a minute, cancelling investments means scrapping plans and making new ones, it's nowhere near as simple as it sounds and it's not like Europeans weren't patient to see if the demented pedo king is bluffing or not. Volkswagen is no longer building a mega-factory it planned to build in the USA, instead it's going to pull out entirely. Germany is withdrawing its gold back home. European tourists are actively avoiding the USA and boycotting any and all USA products and companies. Heck, Europe is spending historical amounts of money on rearming and not a single cent of that money is going to go into the pockets of US companies. And just wait until you see what the EU has in store for USA tech companies. These people don't understand what they've woken up because their education system is a shameful disgrace and they don't study history. Europeans stopped killing each other only after WW2 ended and a major driving factor were and still are the European Union, the European Court for Human Rights and international law. USAians forget how things were before that, they forget it was Europeans who created the concepts of global trade and global empires and total war. We're peaceful because we choose to be, because we know what we can become if we choose to. USAians are children. They know nothing and they're poking a bear they don't even understand.

how  can you   TRADE.   IN  A   FAIR   AND  honest  manner.   When  you  are   dealing   with     THE  MAFIA.

In related news: Poland, already big spender on defence, is well on track to receive 43 billion Euro loan from EU for further defence contracts. And every single cent of that will go to European military industry. Nothing to US.

The Threat to Greenland nor Canada isnt over yet.
So this is still relevant.
In fact these statements led to the whole shift in geopolitics. They arent simply byproducts or occasional tantrums.
These things had consequences that will lead to further implications in the future, regardless what Trump is doing.

We Europeans don't sit Trump out. We move on to minimize our relationship with the US even if there is a more friendly successor. The US has been building trust for 80 years and destroyed it for 80 years with one speech of Shady Vance in February last year in Munich. This is irreparable for a long, long time. Just listen to the speech that Merz gave yesterday. “If the Americans believe that, with their tariff policy, they should exert influence around the world, if they believe that tariffs are more important than taxes at home, then that is something that the Americans, of course, can decide for themselves. But it is not our policy,” Merz said.
“You can do it, but we will not agree to this,” Merz said of the tariffs.
“And if you overdo it, then we Europeans are certainly capable of defending ourselves against things we do not want,” he added.

Sad to say, I suspect the threat to Greenland has not gone away; it's just gone underground. This week, the distraction/focus is on Iran, and then it is likely to return to Greenland.

It doesn't matter that he won't actually invade Greenland, the damage is done trust is broken. It's surprising that you don't know as a Canadian, your country has already started to establish an alternative to the usd with 60 different countries already. When we move over the us economy is done.

Good saying, "America first equals American alone"

Europe is walking away, quietly, methodically, unpicking the dependency, finding or making alternatives.  No bluster, no shouting, kicking or screaming.  Not secretly either but Tangoman isnt listening.  We will shut the door on our way out.
This is at a governmental level and a personal level…ive switched search engine, about to find alternative email and office products.  Stopped using Amazon  for discretionary purchases and as soon as theres an alternative to visa/mastercard i will switch bank accounts.  And i am not alone.  Back in the day during apartheid we did this for SA, it was boycott, everyone checked who owned products.  US is the new SA.

as a french i can tell you trump had a bad idea to bully danemark , because 74% of the insulin sold in the usa come from guess where danemark lol so if europ lauch the trade bazooka imagine the result and in france we had a full independent tech military industry

I believe Dopy Donald thought that pressuring NATO members to increase defence spending would mean more orders for US defence systems. Instead it’s backfired spectacularly as EU systems get a massive boost and US orders are cancelled. 😂

And in fact the facts are much further on the way. Trump sees that Master and Visacard are handling the European Banking System, but several of the core Banks of Eurocard are establishing a new Eurobanking System. If everything goes according to plans it will be ready in 2028, if necessary they would have to establish a Parameter and push it this year. This is not the wanted way but if the Orange One plays crazy, there are ways possible. The Eurocard System worked for years. This is not something completly new.

Yep we need to send our troops to Canada against the US Canadians are one of us.

MAX 🇪🇺

Trump did not let go of Greenland. He just let's cool off, but he will not forget Greenland. He wants it, the USA has a big shortage of rare earth minerals and aluminium.
The dollar became very cheap against the Euro. It used to be worth more than an Euro, now it's cheaper. America does not have a lot of docks. They can't build their own ships, they depend on European and Sout Korean builders. For private and army ships. The USA is nothing without Europe. Ofcourse it will effect Europe too, but we have way more trade routes than the USA and keep creating new ones. Canada is doing a great job too!
I am happy to see Europe and Canada unite even more. I can only speak for myself, but I was never a big America fan. I feel much closer to Canadians.

it makes no difference whether Greenland is militarily attacked or not; simply saying so is enough to further destroy trust in NATO and the USA.

Most common mistake that people do is they think US' entire military spending goes to NATO while actually about 30% goes, the rest goes for everything else military related and not involving NATO. So that 990bn comes to 330bn for NATO. Which is less than Europe's 454bn because 100% of those funds go towards NATO.

As a Frenchman, I have always been extremely wary of the USA and its policies. In 1967, General de Gaulle expelled American soldiers and bases from French territory, one of the best ideas in the world.

one of the most interesting comments I read lately, was that for US Tech Companies Europe is more important than US consumers because the average EU-citizen has, on average more capital available by a large margin.

America is 4 per cent of the world population. Just a tiny piece. Remember that.
