I'm always searching for a new and exciting location in Italy, one that offers the "Sojourn Trifecta" - spectacular natural wonders, a rich, intriguing history and amazing local culinary specialties.

I found all of this in the region of Abruzzo and because this incredible region is only 2 hours outside of Rome, a visit can be an amazing add-on trip!

On this day of exploration, I covered lots of ground and traveled many, many miles. I started in Navelli at B&B Abruzzo Segreto and continued to Ofena where I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Agristurismo Sapore De Campagna.

Afterwords, I traveled north to one of Italy's most stunning national parks; Gran Sasso national park and hiked to the top of a mountain with an unforgettable view of the mighty Gran Sasso - the tallest peak in the Italian Apennine mountain chain.

My father was born there and was a little shepherd boy before coming to America with his family. He always talked about the beauty and longed to return. We planned to but he passed away of a heart attack. He was my father and best friend. From Roccamontepiano.

I’m from another small, forgotten region of Italy: Basilicata. My father studied in Pescara (biggest city in Abruzzo) and he became linked to this Region. We have friends there and I love it, people are so kind and the fact that makes this region so amazing is that in the space of 20 km you come from the mountain to beautiful coastlines (it’s like the small representation of Italy)

Lived in Gaeta Italy 80-86, travelled all over Italy and loved it, Stuck here in Florida USA for now, I hope to return to Italy for good soon.

Abruzzo Segreto means Secret Abruzzo, not Secret OF Abruzzo. It would translate better as "Hidden Abruzzo", as in the unknown part of Abruzzo.

My father’s family is from Abruzzo. All my life I have dreamed of going there. Now through some very fortunate events, I’ve located my relatives and plan to travel there this coming September. Thank you for your lovely video.

I am Italian, but, before of that, I am Abbruzzese. I don't simply love my region, I deeply live it and I think it is a precious treasure which must be shown only to the right people, who can respectfully live it. A kind of massive tourism has ruined a lot of wonderful places in our nation and I hope Abruzzo could remain a bit of secret in some way: not a place that attracts less tourists but that attracts only the "right" ones. Apart of this personal thoughts, congratulations for the video, it is very very good!!

Since Abruzzo, especially L'Aqulia is surrounded by mountains, it is one of the most untouched, isolated areas in Italy. Inhabitants of Abruzzo are most genetically similar to the Romans than even the citizens of Lazio because of geography.

I was lucky enough to spend a semester in L'Aquila during my studies. Abruzzo is truly one of the most beautiful regions in Italy.

Hi, I' m from L ' Aquila, the town nobody knew before the earthquake and then almost everybody knows after that terrible day. Thanks for your video, it' s such a good way to let our places be known and I ' m glad you have appreciated them so much. I went to NewYork twice, a long time ago and It' s stunning!
