I traveled all the way to Ankara to visit FNSS, and it turned out to be one of the most fun days of the trip. Jim from FNSS showed me around a whole lineup of armored vehicles: the amphibious PARS 4x4 tank killer, the ZAHA marine assault vehicle that carries 21 marines from ship to shore, and the brand new PARS ALPHA 8x8, which I also got to ride around the track in. We talked about why the engine sits in the front, what actually keeps a crew alive in a mine blast, and why wheels or tracks are the right choice for different missions.
All opinions expressed are my own or those of my guests and do not necessarily represent the official position of the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Air Force, or the Kingdom of Sweden.
