Deep within the heart of Idaho's backcountry, hidden among towering canyon walls and endless wilderness.. I found a hermits cabin, the place where one mountain man carved out a life far away from the modern world and lived by his own rules. A kind and humble man known as Dugout Dick.

But the shocking discoveries came next, beyond this forgotten road and while exploring the last outpost.

One of north America's deepest remote canyon systems with long stretches more than a mile deep, and leading to Shoup, Idaho - USA. A living ghost town & old mining camp that refuses to be forgotten.

Here you can find old gold mining remnants and historic landscapes. Wildlife and wilderness dominate more than people, and homesteads become reminders of those who tried to carve out a life in this harsh country. Yet still attracting a few people who want a quieter off-grid lifestyle away from the crowds.
