For 3 houses i would also say the scene where Dimitri learns about Edelgard being the Flame Emperor, and there its heavely implied that he breakes the skull of the soldier, that he picks up in the face, just with his bare hands
That is also very dark

For Blazing Blade, I think the moment with Leila is way darker, you see Matthew witness his Love's Dead body hanging from a tree, what's more, if Matthew dies, Hector says he'll bury them together.

It’s censored in the remake but the location where you recruit Linde in Book 1 (Knorda, also the place where Ogma was a gladiator) is a slave market and it is implied the reason she’s disguised as a boy is to escape that other kind of slavery. When Marth visits The have, the person running the slave market offers to sell some slaves to Marth. And it is implied though Ogma’s past and what Camus says in BSFE that this isn’t even caused by the chaos of war. Knorda, which is located next to the capital of Archanea, has been a hell hole for some time due to the king’s poor rule.

To add more to Genealogy, Emblem Sigurd admits to Diamant that fire still scares him because of memories of "that day".

For fates I think we forgot one fully animated suicide that I constantly remember
Ryoma killing himself to keep up his sibling's plan to stop them from getting caught by Garon for showing mercy.
Yes, Ryoma earlier in the story had suffered "fates older brother writing syndrome", but he felt stunningly in character by the time it was far too late to save him.  And Seppuku with a lightning sword is just A Lot to watch, holy cow.

Great video. I would add for Tellius if you lose the Black Knight duel, Mist weeps and just accepts dying with her brother.

16:49 I argue that makes it darker. The fact that it was suicide instead of murder is even more messed up to me

For Engage, even though i agree with the bad ending, I want to also note Chapter 24, while I hate the surrounding Time travel plot, seeing Alear under Sombron be revealed as this clearly depressed, mistreated teen, who is so mortally terrified of showing any emotion, that they sound more monotone than even Byleth, actually got to me, it helps that both VA of Alear did phenomenal jobs.

(Also, it somehow made Sombron take the undisputed title for worst parent in series history, because, while there are some other parents that come close in quality, he beats all of them in quantity of mistreated children.)

I understand, technically backstory, but, considering we (because of time travel) actually see hat part of the backstory play out, I think  it should count.

And now to something completely different: With the presentation of some games holding them back, I wonder, what would be the darkest moments in the Fire Emblem Manga adaptations?

Playing conquest first before birthright, elise's death by Xander hurt deeply 😢

In Awakening, the scene where Lucina tries to prevent her timeline hits DIFFERENT for a first time player when you play as Female Robin and likely marry Chrom

There are darker moments in Three Houses than the Church burning Fhirdiad.
The first that comes to mind is the massacre in Remire Village, where people watch their friends, family and neighbours turn into lunatics who go on a rampage, burning and killing. You are not able to help the crazed civillians, you have to kill them in order to save other civillians. Children in the monestary later talk about it with a dazed expression, unable to comprehend. Dimitri loses part of his mind in the Blue Lions route when he sees all of this.

The Fell Xenologue has quite a few moments but honestly the reveal that Rafal turned every living person (sans the Four Winds) into Corrupted that didn't even know they were Corrupted kinda hit for me

I think Nino’s “mother” Sofia calling her less valuable than “garbage, refuse” is the darkest moment in FE7. Right when she tells Jaffar to kill her during the ploy. After Nino just wants to hold her mom’s hand. The contrast was enough to shake the stoic Jaffar who understood the Black Fang code of killing each other, etc. Then Nino meeting Zephiel is also dark. The whole Battle Before Dawn is both metaphorically and literally dark. Also, people talk about Awakening having choices that don’t matter but the ending choice of Robin self sacrifice actually does matter and is pretty dark.

for telius, I expected to see Ike watching his mother killed by his father in finalist

in blazing blade the fact Nergal wanted power to rescue his wife and protect his children, lost his mind with dark magic, don't remember why he wanted power and still search for it, and try to kill his children all along. he changed so much even them didn't recognize him, only the player can knows the truth... if they are lucky enough in Hector mode.

for three houses, the stepfather of Mercedes who wanted her to carry his children by force

but it's a seriously good list

I nominate Zephiel's pet baby fox being put to death as the darkest moment in Blazing Sword.

personally for fates I'd choose the rebellion massacre in conquest, showing just how far gone the Nohrian army is that they would kill off an entire village of their own citizens, but the line that stuck with me the most of it is when they mention scarlets death and say "they... clearly meant to make an example of her" which I think makes good use of leaving the floor open for the player to imagine the most heinous thing they could have possibly done to her

Elise dying in birthright hits ALOT harder if you played conquest as the first route in Fates you did. Because the game has built her up as a very likeable, and cheerful character beforehand. Playing birthright first (which I assume most did) ruins the impact of the scene.

Surprised Shadow Dragon's prologue got mentioned without mentioning you being forced to sacrifice one of your units.  Rarely does Fire Emblem go 'hey, choose which of these named characters with personalities in your army that you want to die, you MUST choose one.'

Granted, it's the prologue, so it's not like you're emotionally attached to any of them yet, but if you're picking the prologue anyway it's weird to leave that out.

Making the Genealogy part worse is the map leading up to the "barbecue" incident. "Doorway to Destiny" is an extremely ironic chapter title, the music sounds like a funeral march, and even some of the conversations between the characters (such as Claud/Edain, Jamke/Dew) foreshadow their demise

I think the darkest and saddest moment for me in fire emblem awakening is if you play the DLC there's a level called Future past and in the third level if any one of the children other than Lucina die you get the bad ending which has Grima/Robin teleport the party away after saying he can't watch Chrom die a second time and than he begs Lucina to kill him because he is Grima and can't be separated he says how he murdered legions of peaople and killed her friends. But the hardest thing you realize if you read all the dialogue is the fact that Robin is sentient during all of Grima's massacre's he has to watch as his own hands kills thousands of peaople and as he kills his friends and family cause Grima made sure to kill most of them by himself. It's really dark and sad being trapped in your own body and forced to watch as you kill all of your friends and family messed up man. Play the DLC if you can.
