Charles Laughton won his Oscar for The Private Lives of Henry V11

The narration has several verbal slip ups. It would have been better if there was less dialogue and it had been delivered in a less rushed style.  Nice documentary since all these Brits deserve to be forever honoured.

Edwards also played Polo..

Richard Todd who was in the Parachute brigade that took the Pegasus on D day, doesn't make this list lol

Sorry Stock keeps changing to Stick

Michael  Hordern was Thomas Boleyn, Anne Boleyn 's father in "Anne of the Thousand Days", a well-meaning father and obsequious courtier, trying to manoeuvre between a demanding narcissist king and a headstrong daughter who would not become that King's mistress. She would be his Queen and accept nothing short of that.

He also played Doctor Feckenham, Mary I's Catholic confessor in "Lady Jane", tasked by that Queen with converting her deeply Protestant cousin Lady Jane Grey to the "true faith". Mary had to execute her for usurping the crown and being the focus of rebellion against her rule; but Mary was reluctant to send her cousin to hell. Jane had grown up a committed Protestant because she had not been taught the Catholic doctrine, and Mary wanted Jane to have every chance to convert and go to heaven. She had felt badly that her little brother the late king had died outside of the Church, since she had been appointed his godmother. Doctor F can't bring himself "to score across a faith so pure" and promises to stay beside her as a supportive friend when she ensures her execution. Jane thanks him for his kindness and sobs out that she wishes that he was not a Papist because he was surely destined for hell and that was a pity since he has been so very kind to her.
