As a German i never do an med cruise during the summer only after the summer holidays during Oktober!!!

Because much can be closed on Sundays, pay attention to the cruise itinerary. .sunday may be a good day for an excursion rather than self exploring the port

Shops close in the afternoon because they will be open till 8pm or later. Only young children and very old people still take siestas.

The best way to experience the Med is by sail. These vessels enter Amalfi-coast ports that no cruise ship can approach. It is intimate, it is relaxing, it is perfect and yet not at all expensive compared to the megaships bombarding ports with thousands of tourists at a time. Try it, you'll like it!

I've known "those" people who brag that they don't experience jet lag ever. They're lying. I've traveled to Europe at least 20 times on business, and I still got knocked on my butt every time. Loved those Monday afternoon meetings watching the macho business travelers nodding off.

We're cruising the med in about a year on Azamara from Barcelona to Venice. We're flying in a day early and booked a tapas tour for that evening. I'm hoping that having a scheduled activity the day before the cruise will help with the time change

Thanks for the great info. We are taking our first trip to Europe this fall. Visiting our niece and family in Switzerland, then flying to Athens three days before our 14-day Mediterranean cruise, beginning in Athens and ending in Rome (Civitavecchia), with two night extension in Rome. We are considering a repo cruise out of Galveston starting just after Christmas, found a really good deal and really not that many sea days. Fingers crossed on that one!

My boss did the Oasis of The Seas in the summer in the Mediterranean and its why he stopped cruising. Everything was packed. The locals threw water on passengers and the rudest people ever. Pushing you out of buffet lines, etc. NO WAY JOSE

Did a med cruise last May. The weather was perfect. Definitely it was a lot of walking. Food was fantastic. It comes down to doing your homework on what time to go there. ESIM is an essential. That was our one mistake we made.
ONE MAJOR THING...keep single euro on you. You have to pay to use the toilets.
SECOND MAJOR THING...bring a water bottle.
