The coast guy who was screaming at the captain was 100 percent correct in doing so... kudos to that guy for doing an amazing job.. the captain on the other hand is a coward and a liar
Having worked on many cruise ships I have learned that some companies are better than others with safety issues. Almost ALL cruise lines have an attitude of "Keep everyone HAPPY- at all costs!" and so are reluctant to share troubling information. So.... DO NOT count on being warned or told the truth when something is wrong. Trust your own instincts. If the ship is beginning to list to one side and is not correcting itself, you must quickly make your way to the high side. If possible, change into warm clothes and practical shoes and drink a glass or two of water to prevent dehydration. Bring your life-vest and a flashlight, (and everyone should bring at least a small one on board- as well as a whistle) and put your ID in an inner pocket. Bed sheets can be used for warmth- and as ropes if things get really bad. DO NOT BRING ANY LUGGAGE!! Keep your family together-hold hands. Help others as you are able. Try to stay calm. ABOVE ALL- Don't get so drunk or wasted that you cannot think straight or save yourself if necessary. You CANNOT count on the staff to rescue you in a true emergency; and though the CREW ought to be honest, brave and heroic, they are just flawed, frightened human beings under their uniforms. Don't forget to pack your common sense.
word of advice if the captain tells you to stay in your room, get out on deck, unless your in a bad storm, but stay in a place where you can get out easily. go with your gut instinct.
Can we just take a moment to remember how amazing the villagers were? They took in the survivors; welcomed them into their homes. I'm happy that people care that much; it's a shame we don't have more good people like that.
The commander was not playing with the captain. He verbally ripped him to shreds and I loved every word of it. You as the captain should be the last person off the ship, helllllll you caused this mess.
