Diane, Back in the day, when I was raising my 8 children, I was sitting in the tub (with the door locked), and decided that I was going to learn to paint after the children were grown. Life went along, I went back to school, found myself alone. When I turned 60, I started watching YouTube videos about painting. Two years before I retired I bought painting supplies of all sorts and jumped right in and made some very bad art. I kept going. That was 12 years ago, and I can’t imagine not painting now. I was so happy to have found your channel. You have inspired me along the way for which I am so grateful. Thank you.

I did give up for 12 years due to 2 teachers who kept correcting my paintings adding their own bits. Frustrated and feeling like I had no talent I quit. I am also a beader and was working in a shop selling beading supplies and fixing jewelry. So I went back into jewelry. Then the pandemic hit. Our shop closed and I worked on repairs at home. I discovered you tube, and Skillshare as well as other classes and got lost in the coloring book passion and enjoyed the community. That led me back to digging out my paints I had saved mainly acrylic and gouache. Eventually I pulled out a pallet I had saved and played a bit and found myself so filled with joy that I made it a regular thing and found the you tube community and loved it! and still do!! Thanks to some brilliant teachers....you are one! and here we paint!!!☺❤🧡💛💚💙💜

My life has been full of twists and turns for the last 20 years, with being finally diagnosed with a chronic illness ( not just something in my head), multiple moves, divorce, broken collarbone, two car accidents, and two surgeries. I took a card making course and one of the classes was watercolour painting. I am off work, due to illness and picked the brush up again, in March. I found your YouTube channel and fell in love with your style and your banter. So happy to have found you❤

I was getting ready this morning and was thinking about you. You said something about you not being pretty or something about your appearance I think? It was the same video that you shared about your sister. Diane...I have never met you, but if kindness, generosity, honestly and whimsy we're good looks...Girl You Are A Knockout! ❤❤❤❤

I am a hands on type of woman as I was a child. I love planting, digging in the dirt, pulling weeds, but I also love making art in a variety of ways. I married an artist, opened a gallery in my 60s, and began painting again. Watercolor has always been my favorite. I even taught others who were beginners basically teaching the way I had been taught. Now I will soon be 83 and have rediscovered painting again with you as my teacher and inspiration. Thank you. ❣️

You are right, painting reaches into your soul. When painting, nothing else comes into my mind. It is like meditation.

“Everybody needs to paint, especially now with the way things are in the world.”
yes, I’m not very good, but I surely daydream about paints and how wonderful it is to watch them mingle with water.
thank you for all the encouragement.

Diane, I found you on YouTube, bought paints and supplies and started painting. Our family went through a terrible trauma and without involving details we are all still dealing with the ramifications of a terrible loss. Your kind and calm voice, watching you paint, and beginning my watercolor journey - all of this has saved my sanity and relieved some of my grief. God bless your work and life for helping our family. I now paint with two of our grandchildren as therapy for us.

I'm in tears as you have touched something in me that I didn't know I needed. I have stopped painting and for a good while but your words that "we all need to paint especially now" hits deep. I can be better.

@angelabritten48 1 year ago

There is something about taking a brush and paint to paper, it's just so soothing. Like you say it touches something deep inside and no matter how long between painting times it's always there to go back to. ❤

“…life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans…”, a wise person once said. I’m so glad that your journey stayed true to painting, and it converged with my journey! Isn’t it interesting what life reveals to us along the way and can’t be rushed? Beautiful painting, from a beautiful lady!💜🌻🥰
