Modern Bond films:

"James, if you're ever going to relieve yourself of this generational trauma, you've got to recognize the inherited patterns, process the pain through therapy or self-awareness, set firm boundaries, and choose new behaviors."

Old Bond films:

"My name is Rebecca Ass."

General Orlov, survived and became a famous art dealer in Beverly hills, and changed his name to Victor Maitland, grey haired gentleman, very dark skin, Capricorn...

"Never Say Never Again" and "Octopussy" were released very close to each other and SCTV's response was an ad for "Never Say Octopussy Again." 🤣

The actor that plays the Russian baddie had a great villain run at this time. Between 83 and 85 he was the villain against James Bond, Axel Foley, and Rambo!

I think the clown costume is the total opposite. It shows he's able and willing to do anything he has to get the job done.

George: "Why is it only the women that have sexual puns as names?"
Uhm....Roger Moore??? Hello?

I love that this movie gives Q his heroic moment.

younger folks have to remember, these films came out every 2-3 years, where huge summer events to see on a big screen. Watching every 2-3 weeks on a tv, 40+ years later, just a whole different world. Roger does look so old here, but didn't seem that old til the last film he made....

The "Sit" command to the tiger is an in joke . There was a famous British dog trainer called Barbara Woodhouse who was well known for her  imperious way of commanding dogs to sit and this is a play on that. Her first TV job was training the hounds which were Ivanhoe's dogs in the  50sTV series Ivanhoe - starring Roger Moore . BTW the actor who plays M in Octopussy played Ivanhoe's manservant in the series too.

Q's crankiness was director Guy Hamilton's idea making GOLDFINGER. Desmond Llewellen played the role straight in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE as did another actor in DR. NO, but Hamilton told Llewellen, "No. You work very hard on this equipment and this guy keeps destroying it in the field."

That was the actual Tarzan noise from the old Tarzan movies.

One of my favourite Roger Moore entires tbh. Despite featuring some of the silliest moments from the entire Bond series (Tarzan swing, gorilla disguise), this still manages to be somewhat serious and pretty tense, especially during the second half.

Spend the money quickly mr Bond. That line is from Ian Fleming original story Moonraker.

The aircraft at the beginning is a real kit plane. The BD5J. Usually it had a propeller, but you could also get it with a jet engine. The most dangerous kit built aircraft ever. 3,000 sold, 200 built, and 80 crashes. I first saw it in Popular Mechanics, and I though it was the coolest thing ever.

25:30 The Star Wars film "Return of the Jedi" made the same Tarzan joke with Chewbacca the same year - 1983.

Waiting for Bond to yell "Kahn!!!"

The one scene that always stands out in this movie for me is Bond desperately trying to convince everyone about the bomb. Dressed as a clown, trying to fight his way through the crowd, the audience thinking it's all part of the show until the last moments... It's all just a little bit surreal and you really feel like Bond is moments away from the end of everything. The hopelessness is palpable and if not for the title character, Bond really would have failed.

i'm pretty sure this was the first James Bond movie i ever saw. I was really young, like 10. The leech and the clown with a dagger in his back are still embedded in my memory.

25:03 That's a recording of Johnny Weissmuller's iconic Tarzan yell first used in the 1932 film Tarzan the Ape Man. It's kind of like the Wilhelm scream of Tarzan yells. My grandfather and I used to watch old reruns of the Tarzan TV series from the 1960s starring Ron Ely. That yell was played in every episode.

When Khan and his henchman had issues with the car starting, there was closer to only 30 minutes till the explosion time, nowhere near the 4 hours when the timer was set.
