Just replaced my 14 year olf AO Smith Tank with a 49 Gal Bradford White and a $200
Corro - Protect Electric Titinaim Anode rod. saved $1000 installing it my self and  i
f the Corro - Protect does it's job I'll be long dead before it craps out.

I find it hard to believe that explosion in the beginning was caused by a water heater

Great info, thanks Mark!

The video often was showing things other than what was being talked about.  For example they were showing the drain on the tank while talking about the Temp and pressure relief valve.

No tank has blown up for decades.

Good tips--THANKS! Our 40 gal natgas H2O heater lasted 30+ years--then unceremoniously split inside along the flue vent hole. Ever see 40 gals of hot water pouring out your vent? NOT PRETTY--every cardboard box in the basement--soaked and had to be tossed. We're on city water with huge amounts of dissolved minerals (calcium.) I should have drained and flushed the unit at least once (some mfgs say twice) a year. We paid the price. DO IT!

Thank you!

Good

You should add information for folks that have a mixing valve - if they do - you have to keep the temperature closer to 140 degrees.  Otherwise, you are ok with 120 - but I'd still prefer about 125 to limit the potential of any legionnaire's disease.

What do you think about electric anode rods?

Water tanks are intentionally designed to fail; it's called planned obsolescence.

I’m a carpenter building his own house for his family. I’ve done all the plumbing in the electrical. Too cold and when I have questions, I my friends who are professional electricians HVAC and plumbers. Your video is for people that have the money to call a plumber. The cost of a plumber electrician HVAC has outpaced by far the cost of living. People are driving around with one headlight because they can’t afford a $20 bulb. Yeah just call a plumber call AC man call an electrician yeah but the cost that it brings is too much. Plumbers are ripping off people changing hot water heaters so the first thing I did upon watching your video was go. Check off the pressure relief valve on my hot water heater and I will watch the whole video so I don’t know what to do. But I won’t be calling a plumber thank you for the video. Excuse the typos I’m dictating.

This is a very informative and thorough video.

The explosion video is not a water heater. AI slop.

Water softeners make it worst 🥴

showing a guy put a pipe wrench to the drain valve when talking about the T&P relief valve isn't good. try to coordinate the sound to the sights.,

Is this ai slop

120!  BULL.  Your hot water heater will become a bacteria breeding ground!  140 at least, is recommended to prevent Legionaires a potentially fatal infection.

Even if anode rod is made of titanium, or powered anode, it should be replace in a few years?
