🦌 Is Nara more than just deer?

Today I'm heading out of Osaka for the day to explore Nara, one of Japan's most historic cities.

Nara is famous for its deer, but there's a lot more to discover here. I start in Nara Park before heading to the incredible Tōdai-ji Temple and its enormous Great Buddha.

From there, I walk through the forest to Kasuga Taisha, with its thousands of stone and bronze lanterns, before stopping for lunch and exploring the traditional streets of Naramachi.

Along the way, there's plenty of history, temples, forests, traditional Japanese streets, local food and, of course, plenty of deer.

I also stop for a coffee and something sweet at Karupedeiemu in Naramachi — a great little café tucked away in the old town.

If you're staying in Osaka, Nara is an easy day trip and there's a lot more here than the famous deer.
