Join me on a rainy-day journey along the Ping River as I follow the water from outside Chiang Mai into the city to see how high the river really is—and whether Chiang Mai is at risk of flooding this season.
After heavy rain over the past 24 hours, we check the riverbanks, bridges, local communities, and areas affected by previous floods. I also take a look at the flood-prevention work carried out along the Ping River and share my thoughts on why Chiang Mai has remained largely dry so far.
Along the way, we stop for some local Thai food, visit Wat Chai Mongkhon, watch the river boats, and finish the day exploring the newly renovated Central Chiang Mai Airport mall.
