As a tattooer, PLEASE tell us if you get an infection that requires a hospital visit. That way we can figure out what happened in the tattoo process so we can prevent it from happening again. Plus, I believe some states in America need to know so they can report it to the health department. I can't believe she's acting this flippant and immature. Wow.

"If it is a woman tattoo artist acting a fool" it's usually Ariel Dejesus

I have BPD and I'm so tired of these kinds of people using the disorder to be a piece of shit. Having BPD is stigmatised enough already.

That is extremely negligent of the hospital. I hope she perused them too. Every hour with sepsis matters, because the mortality rate increases about 7% each hour that passes. She's lucky to be alive, I'm glad she survived. But, the nurse should have recognized sepsis at triage, someone obviously dropped the ball there.

this is me & my story!! thank you so much for sharing i really appreciate it!

NY body piercer here. 👋🏻 There is no such thing as a "licensed" or "permitted" tattoo artist or body piercer in New York State. It is one of the many states where tattooing is not regulated by the law, the health department, NOBODY at all is checking in on piercing/tattoo studios or artists. I tell anyone who will listen to this info because I have seen so many folks who have had horrific experiences with other piercers or tattoo artists who trust them because they assume there is some sort of licensing process or inspection, but there simply isn't. I've even seen folks who have gotten sepsis, it's terrible. I'm not blaming Kayla AT ALL this is just not common knowledge, and it really needs to be shouted from the rooftops so maybe things will change. My heart goes out to her. Thank you for covering stories like this.

I remember following Shannon when she was like 300lbs working as a security guard and ran a weight loss account. After she lost weight and got skin removal on her arms, abdomen and a boob job she deleted all her posts and all of sudden started posting tattoo related stuff? I think a lot of her body shaming others is really a reflection of how she feels about herself. Each time she’d leave a shop she’d put them on blast calling them sexual abusers and creeps. It was like a broken record it was hard to keep up with and it became painfully obvious that was her go to insult whenever she felt wronged by anyone at a shop she worked at. It was definitely the boy who cried wolf too many times type situation. Gave me major ick considering how many people that actually have trauma related to pervy artists.

Thank you so much for sharing Kayla story! Kayla’s wife is my childhood best friend. I remember her running to Rochester to go be by Kayla side. You have no idea how much both of them suffered. What this tattoo artist has done is despicable. She is a complete coward. I’m so happy Kayla was able to recover, but I can imagine what she now has endure for the rest of her life.

The fact, that the artist immediately turned a cute idea of a childhood picture tattoo into child p. really gives me the ick. Is everyone with a tattoo of their child or family as children a predator now? That is so so weird. Is everyone who gets their pet tattooed into bestiality? that is such a weird logic

"Youre probably into CP" clocked the homophobia the second she said that

I was able to clock the homophobia as soon as she called the victims wife her “lover”

Heard Rochester and immediately was like “goddammit, nothing good ever happens here.”

No surprise others are saying she is homophobic, I knew she was as soon as she referred to her customer’s wife as her “lover”

It's the accusing her client of being into child porn that gets me 🫠 if she's making accusations like that, then among other things I'd say her hard drive needs checked.

My finance just shouted from the other room “Treacle’s talking about Rochester get in here”
(We live in Rochester)

11:23 and if you’ve ever tried to take a picture of a bruise or skin redness, you know it always looks worse in person, so I can’t imagine how red this actually was. 😱

She is lucky she isn't facing manslaughter charges when sha almost killed someone. A tattoo that cost her life

okay as a BPD haver, wtf was that comment? 💀 sick and tired of my illness being brought up when talking about shitty ass people, having BPD does not make you a terrible person omfg

and on top of it all, the tattoo itself is totally jacked up too. it’s hard to tell what you’re even looking at besides flowers and a box unless you get really really close and look at it for a second. so not only does she have this horrible infection and experience, but a messed up tattoo on top of it she’ll eventually have to deal with. that’s just so awful to do to someone. and if you’re not capable of doing a certain tattoo, my goodness just say that!

Im a sepsis survivor, appendicitis related tho, not tattoo related, but I was in a coma for several days and I can confirm that sepsis is really dangerous and sepsis survivors often actually lose fingers, toes, arms or legs or all of them. I was lucky, I only have heavily scarred organs that needs monitoring, even more than 20 years later. Having sepsis is scary as hell, and it is really touch and go. It's also insanely painful and exhausting.

Sepsis is no joke. I've actually taken many courses in wound dressing and first aid stuff to make sure I or my loved ones never get to that point of infections. I always keep wound cleaning stuff ready both at home and in my car. My car also has a bunch of other first aid stuff in case I come upon an accident.

Sepsis is so dangerous! Please always see a doctor the second you suspect infection.
