I traveled to Joaquín V. González, Salta, Argentina, to learn the story of a 74-year-old man who lives completely alone in the middle of the forest.
He raises his chickens, cares for his animals, and makes bricks with his own hands. He works alone, every day, leading a simple life deeply connected to this land.
While we talked, I asked him about his loneliness. He told me he handles it well, that he's learned to live with it. But there was something in his gaze that lingered with me. His words said one thing, and his eyes seemed to tell me another.
I walked around his property, shared his fire, and listened to his story. In the midst of so much silence, I understood that there are lives that unfold far from everything, with almost no one stopping to learn about them.
This is one of them.
