Fascinating. 😅 the football match. Oh how different are we today. Chandler really put on a great show. Yes Karpov was showing signs of vulnerability. And with the prospect of the genius Kasparov on the horizon worries must have been creeping up. The British scene was looking healthy. All those maths graduates!!  Somewhere in Britain Nigel Short was brewing up his own brilliance. A wonderful era. Seeing soviet old school players like Polugaevsky and Korchnoi was a treat. Wonderful.
