The Lithium Hydroxide canister adaptation was one of the best McGyver jobs in history!

RIP Jim Lovell. You were an American hero and you will never be forgotten. ❤

Those 3 astronauts were badasses.  But the engineers in the control room were also badasses.  What they had to figure out with limited time and resources is just amazing.  THAT is the pinnacle of engineering.  And some people still question the usefulness of algebra … JSMH.

I was allowed to stay up all night to watch TV coverage of the rescue. It seemed at the time like the whole world was united in hope for the Apollo crew to get back safely. Incredible.

I think the Apollo 13 was the most terrifying return mission ever with a terrific ending...God give them a chance at life again.

And they did it all with slide rules and pen and paper. The computer power was far less than one mobile phone today. Amazing.

Neil Armstrong first man on the moon. Absolutely amazing. In my opinion Jim Lovell is the greatest astronaut of all time

I just watched Apollo 13 last night, for about the 20th time.  This is a great complement to the dramatization in the movie.  Jimmy Lovell could land a washing machine!

All of the engineers were smart smart smart

My brother was working at a tracking station during this. He said the atmosphere was SOOOO tense.
I’m not sure anyone went home when they should have.

I'm 87 years old and I remember well watching this happen. All of the world was listening and watching as NASA worked to save those precious Astronauts. It was America's ingenuity at it's best, it was wonderful! Then NASA got a bit arrogant, stopped listening to the engineers and Challenger happened in 1986!

This is simply the greatest human achievement

Man I remember watching every moment I could of the Apollo 13 saga. Ron Howard did an amazing job of recreating this event for the Apollo 13 movie, which I have watched a few times.

13 year old me appreciates this documentary

The best example of human endeavour..The WHOLE programme was about what can be achieved if we all pull together..RIP Jack, Jim..Thank you for your service.

Excellent documentary. I lived right next to Jim Lovell's son at St John's Military in our barracks. He was an eighth grade at the time and I was in seventh. I got to meet his dad about a month after splashdown when he visited the Academy.  Indeed he was a true American hero. One of my most memorable moments growing up. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Amazing and very emotional , then and now. NASA’S “ Finest hour “. Jim Lovell is a national treasure.

By far NASA'S finest hour. They literally answered the age old question of can you put a square peg in a round hole.

The fact that they'd even try to get to the moon with that archaic tech is astounding.
And it's mind boggling that without a lot of that archaic technology, they were able to navigate themselves back from the moon.

NASA’s finest hour.
The 6 minute blackout took almost all of my nails.
