Park Heights was once a gorgeous place to live . The houses were well kept and the streets were lined with fantastic looking trees and scrubs. When people started to die that's when the area lost that pride. There were many eateries, shops and hotels that furnished the area along with the Pimlico Race Track .
I still live here. Thankfully in probably one of the cleanest well kept blocks in the area. I was raised here. Yet as I look at this video.... I've never wanted to leave so badly. Mayor Scott too is from here... clearly that means and does nothing.
The area when I lived up there as a kid, it was beautiful and the houses were all clean and the yards were clean and the alleys were clean and you didn’t have any issues with rats! This was in the early 70’s I lived on Belvedere ave Woodland ave and Reisterstown rd. And Pimlico racetrack was a Monumental Happening back then! And it was mostly Blacks and Jewish people who lived in the area. It was very nice and full of life!
SHAME on the city to allow all those overgrown brambles, shrubs, trees & grass to be piled up & packed all around Park Heights! It looks a horrible neglected mess! One day, there'll be officials in office who'll spend the ppls tax money wisely💯💔
As someone from Baltimore I'm not sure why I like watching these videos, haha. Guess it's just interesting seeing an outside perspective and what people say.
Cherry Hill, in south B-more, where I grew up, used to be stigmatized due to the large number of public housing projects there. But based on my last visit to my hometown (I reside in California), I believe Cherry Hill may have held up much better compared to other parts of the city.
Growing up, I remember Park Heights as a beautiful area and wished I lived in that neighborhood. Back then, I recall, Blacks were steadily moving into that neighborhood and the whites/Jews residing there slowly moved away to places like Randallstown; now, that area is going or has gone down, appearance-wise.
The point is, it appears that that low self-esteem is reflected in the condition of the community in which people reside. Park heights, IMO, is an example of this low self-esteem that has taken hold of the community.:face-red-droopy-eyes::face-blue-wide-eyes::face-orange-biting-nails::face-pink-tears:
I Enjoyed Watching Your Video. You Showed Some of The Good Parts of Park Heights. Not like Some People that Make Videos around here. They just Show the Vacant Run Down Houses and The Drug Addicts Walking Around. At Least You Showed some of the Nice Areas where the Neighborhood and Houses Still Look Decent. 🙂👍
