This man was an artist in the ring. Imagine all the great matches we missed out on because of politics.

Ricky Steamboat, was a main event wrestler , I didn’t blame him for quitting.

I think he didn't remember it correctly. It was jobbing to UT and getting put in a body bag. Then coming out like nothing happened an hour later jobbing to IRS. Ricky told them no.

While Ricky Steamboat left WWF in bad terms in 1991, at least he was able to return to WWE in the mid-2000s as a producer.

The fact that Steamboat was never more than a one-time World Champion is a crime.

Steamboat was the consummate professional. It's a shame Vince did him dirty as he did .

-"How'd you get back with WCW?"
-"Phone call"
...sometimes it's that simple

When he beat Savage it was awesome.
When he beat Flair, it was epic, and this fan boy went crazy. 👊💪

Vince was determined to make Steamboat a example for leaving first time

My favorite wrestler growing up. His matches with Ric Flair, all of them, were great. Wresting at its finest. Steamboat should have been NWA champion more than once and he should have been IC champion a lot longer, but also should have a shot at the WWF championship as well. Maybe the greatest in ring wrestler of all time. He is certainly up there with Flair, Brett Hart and others. Yet he wasn't treated fairly for a number of years.

A stretcher job against a low midcarder like Rotunda would have ruined Steamboat's career.

Even if steamboat had stayed in WWF, he was going down to the bottom of the card. If the make you do two stretcher jobs in one TV taping, you do what he did. You take the hint and leave.

Im surprised he listed so few real friends,, he always came across as a great guy and possibly the greatest in ring performer ever

Steamboat flair was epic. Steamboat beating the macho man at wreastle mania 3 was legendary
One of the best pure matches ever.
