These old animated films hold up so well because it FEELS like art.

Fine, I’ll watch it again….immediately

What also makes this one of the best, is how sincere it is. The kids sound and behave like kids, instead of sarcastic know-it-alls.

Unlike some Robin Hoods that would come after him, this robin hood spoke with an English accent.

At 5:45 it's important to note that he doesn't give the money to the mother until after the children leave the house to play. Cruel reality shouldn't quash a child's joy.

Something I want to point out, not only does the sheriff take a coin from the impoverished kid, but the coin he takes is copper. The coins in the previous scene seem to be gold.

A farthing is a *quarter of a penny*. He went out of his way to take a damn near worthless coin from a child.

"GET OUTTA MY CHURCH!" is still one of my go to phrases.

What i miss about old animated movies, is they werent afraid to have quiet or sombre moments. Seeing what my kids watch today, it seems like theres a comoetition to have every single second filled with loud noises and flashing colours, designed to make them as hyper as possible.

Disney really lost it's magic when it closed the doors of what made it special in the first place, its hand drawn animation studio. I remember it closing down when I was in the middle of getting my fine arts degree in fashion design at SCAD and seeing so many of the animation majors- mid degree having their hopes and dreams dashed.

Boy, could we use a real-life robinhood today...

Im also amazed how the blend of old English and down south charm blend so well together

Watching older animation, the art is just stunning.

I love how moved I get whenever I hear robin confess to maid marian "I love you more than life itself"

Never understood why it isn't as beloved as it should be. It's charming, it's genuine, it's simple in a good way.

8:30 my wife walked down the aisle to this song :)

There is an irony that one of the funnest and funniest Robin Hood versions can also be the most serious and most sincere while many more "realistic" versions end up unintentionally humorous.

Sometimes the world needs a story about a community that, when trapped under a tyrant's thumb, loves each other and their hero who fights back.
The world needs hope.

I rewatched this movie a few years ago with my husband. When we got to the scene where the sheriff takes the coin of the birthday boy, I started crying... like really hard, which came as a surprise to my husband because he had only see my cry on a handful of occasions and definitely never in a movie. When he asked me if I was ok, all I could muster through the tears was "bunny lost his birthday coin!" as I, a 30 year old woman at the time, proceeded to absolutely lose my mind over this scene.

I can laugh about it now so we have a new inside-joke/phrase my husband asks me when I feel sadness or righteous indignation over a situation that wouldn't rile up others as much: "Bunny lost his birthday coin?"

I do love this movie. Everything about it is just perfect.

FINALLY some Robin Hood praise. I have loved this movie since I was little and will never stop loving it
