Shoulder to shoulder, we're joining forces to save Schönig Mill in Bánd, on the banks of the Séd at the foot of Hungary's Bakony Hills. Episode 6 of BozótBrigád brings together a community rescue effort, industrial history with a Francis turbine, and memories shared by the mill's last residents.
For decades, nature had been reclaiming Schönig Mill, leaving its interior choked with fallen beams and rubble. Led by Jani Vadon, BozótBrigád cuts a path to the building, clears the rooms and removes graffiti by sandblasting. Then some special guests arrive: the mill's last residents. Their stories bring the building back to life, revealing where the oven stood, how the turbine worked and the mischief they got up to as children. Meanwhile, volunteer metal detectorists uncover traces of the past around the mill, including a crucifix, pipe lids and a clothing ornament.
