I love how even the Wikipedia page for King's Quest 5 points out that Cedric only ever does one useful thing in the entire game, and that it's inadvertent.

"...and orders Cedric to guide you on your quest..."

"This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."

"Could he get a first-time beast, and a bedroom cat?" -- A sentence that would not exist, if it weren't for KQ5 speedrunning.

@AlbertSirup 4 years ago

I love that we've come to a point where a sentence like "top kek shrek uses the YOLO strat" can make total sense.

"how are you supposed to know that?" the game.

I can't believe urquan became too powerful for this mortal realm and left before he completely upheaved the entire speedrunning scene

NO WAY!!! The French version was unwinnable!!! My 30 year old inferiority complex - gone. I played this game for so long as a kid, raw, no walkthrough, no Internet, no one to help and it always stalled after I turned into a rabbit against Mordak. I knew I was so close to the end. I feel so vindicated now. It was unwinnable. Because it was the French version. I have to call my dad.

UrQuan's disappearance seems to be a constant plot point on these speedrun history sessions ... I wonder how he's doing

@SmileyGamer13 4 years ago

It's always terrifying in a way to see people like Urquan that just... vanish. And then we have no way to contact them anymore. They go from being active in places to just not speaking at all. You can't help but wonder what happened

"It saves a lot of time.

People will not like it"

Your delivery on this line is superb. So ominous. I wonder if we will ever find out what happened to him or this mysterious skip.

LMAO the 3 Mordacks in a row killed me

@StanleyFlinn 3 years ago

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose, that is not a weakness, that is King Quest V

@stonesheeva7158 4 years ago

BTW the Cat is the wizard from the 3rd game. If you remember you are supposed to turn the wizard into a cat before going to the ship.

i really enjoy how you explain what the previous speedrunners are doing now (like saying they moved on to podcast development or whatever) it makes them feel more human rather than just records lol

"Watch out Graham! A poooooiiiisonous snake!"

@tootzy-the-roll 4 years ago (edited)

I am from Québec and my first King's Quest I ever played was V. I have NEVER finished it because I was playing the french version. I got to the end many many times, but I never knew why it would freeze during the duel. I now know why! (◍•ᴗ•◍)

"I have discovered a truly marvelous skip, which this margin is too narrow to contain"

@jaydyer3999 1 year ago

Runs that don't use the yolo strat and encounter the cat are invalid, because anything confirming that Manannan is a cat conflicts with the canon established in the KQ3 speedrun.

28:53 I believe the lyrics to that song are:
"Ants, ants, we're the ants. We pray at night, we stalk at night, we're the ants. I'm the giant ant that makes all of the rules"

@MissTeapot 4 years ago

Found this channel two days ago and I'm now binging all the KQ record histories. The effort you put into these videos really shows and while I have no interest in playing these games myself, listening to you talk about them gets me excited too lol. P.S. I love that you blurred the times in the runs in the intro to keep the suspense
