I really wanted to love this game. I couldn't. Here's why.

This is my first ever video essay, and my first attempt at making any sort of long form content, ever. some notes, since i get a handful of the same comments nearly every day:
1. yes, you can hear some mouth sounds during the beginning of this video. it won't be an issue in the future and it goes away ten minutes in.
2. zelda being taller than link is a win for gay people because link and zelda are lesbians. i will not be taking further questions at this time.
3. it seems that you can find pristine weapons even if you didn't break the unfused variety. we only know this because of datamining. i maintain that the game never explaining how this system works is still poor design
4. yes, i have heard of elden ring. i don't plan on playing it in the immediate future but it's on my list
5. when i talk about link being “disabled” i am referring to the initial event where he loses his arm. the rauru arm is basically a prosthetic
6. my pronouns are they/them
thank you all so much for watching! i can't believe the extent to which this video blew up (going from 100 subs to nearly 20k in less than two months is something i wasn't prepared for) and i'm so thankful for the (mostly) positive response! be on the lookout for more in the future, there's plenty on the way 😸

No joke "Loving the time I spend playing Tears of the Kingdom with my mom is not loving Tears of the Kingdom. It's loving my mom." is one of the most wholesome things I've heard in a rant video

During the tutorial, Rauru knows Zelda was sent back in time and just fails to mention this to Link because otherwise we wouldn't have a plot. 🙃

- Me, unaware i skipped a lot of the content, groaned at any enemy camps, scrolled thru my socials during the sage cutscenes, turned off the sages, and was consistently high every play session

Breath of the Wild was like an unfinished house with my dream floor plan. It didn't even have finished walls yet but I could imagine how perfect the house would be once they've had time to finish expanding on this perfect foundation.

Tears of the Kingdom made me wait 6 years, imaging that same house fully furnished. I finally get to see the house and for some reason they still haven't even finished construction. They spent all that time adding new rooms to the floor plan. Now it's not only unfinished, but no longer my dream house because I didn't need all this extra square feet. I just wanted walls and a ceiling.

TotK was so weird. The way they simultaneously wanted us to think it was a sequel but also think none of the characters remember anything about the events of the first game.

The fact that this started with them wanting to make a love letter to BOTW and ended with them making a three hours hate letter to TOTK is kinda poetic

I remember playing ToTK and going "I understand how this outstripped its initial plan as a DLC, but I don't think it quite reached the scale of a full game"

One of the very first NPC's you meet at Lookout Landing tells you that they're taking refuge there after their home was destroyed when Lurelin Village was raided by pirates. When I first heard that, I was SO intrigued to see theses new pirate enemies and headed straight for Lurelin.

I get there and find out the "pirates" were just Bokoblins. Not even special, unique Bokoblins that wear pirate outfits or anything. Literally the exact same Bokoblins you can find everywhere else.
