As a functional nutrition practitioner who helps midlife women lose weight I get frustrated when I hear women say they are afraid of taking Creatine because they will gain weight. It draws water into the muscles and may cause temporary water weight gain when you first start taking it. It is not permanent and it is not fat gain. The benefit of taking it is to increase and keep the muscle you already have and it’s vital for brain health especially for post menopausal women. Please do not be afraid of taking it. Start with half a dose and slowly work up to 5 grams a day.

Its great to have a flat tummy as many had effortlessly in our youth, but its also ok to give yourself some grace for aging and setting realistic goals.

Gen-X lifetime distance runner here. I can attest that the belly appears regardless of workout distance or type. I found out that fat=food. I started tracking and making sure I was in a deficit instead of eyeballing portions. I switched to whole foods only with my proteins coming from yogurt, nuts, sprouted grains and lean meats. The only sugar I eat is from fruit, otherwise sugar is totally eliminated. Over one year I have dropped 24 pounds very slowly with little to no pain. The hard part was understanding what a deficit is for my own individual body.

Sending hugs Angie! Thank you ❤ I’m also mid 60’s. Long time subscriber and grateful that you created a community for women. I appreciate how you are sharing your experience, research, and voice always just being you and keeping it real. You are beautiful as Angie “today” blurring the lines without trying to look 30. Being the very best and healthiest version of ourselves is a personal journey and a celebration and gift. I lost my husband at 47. I looked at his picture on that day and realized he would never grow “old”. I would never see those changes in him. Aging and change is a privilege that not everyone gets to experience and embracing these changes takes courage. Women can do hard things and be beautiful while doing them🌸

OMG Angie , you are always so gracious, measured in your judgments and clear in your explanations! What a pleasure to listen to your videos. You really deserve the name of influencer in the best sense of the term!

Angie, you have never steered me wrong especially when it comes to my skin care and now that I'm in menopause, I trust you because you don't throw out information willy nilly. I've seen all the research you do just on your skincare alone(love, love, my Angie's actives) so I know this is also based on hours of research. I appreciate you so much, can't wait to get started. ❤

“My way” 😉 is I quit listening to almost everyone and everything since it was mentally exhausting 😂 I have worked out since I was 24, with weights since I was 30 (I just turned 60). I’m lucky because I’m 5’9” and have never had a weight problem and food has never really taken my attention. My favorite workouts have always been metabolic conditioning/dumbbell complexes (and kettlebells once in a while) and walking. But slowly over the last several years ,since I got on IG, my algorithm feeds me all the things. It got in my head I needed to lift heavy and progressively overload so for several years, I switched to 3 x week full body, strictly strength training workouts and walking. I would go heavier and my joints ached but I kept going. And then I decided I needed to make protein my life and tried eating 100 g a day, adding the powder and not only did I hate it, but I gained ~13 pounds. I have never been so stuffed and focused on food in my life. I was eating way more food just to get in the protein, and then I didn’t have any room in my tummy for fiber or fruits/vegetables. So I just quit following everyone and went back to workouts that make me happy and eating my normal diet which is a mixture of everything. I’ve lost most of the weight and the rest will come off. And I was recently reminded of why I made this change…my daughter sent me a podcast where someone was interviewing Stacy Sims, and I have nothing against her, she’s a highly educated woman, but it was so overwhelming listening to them talk about what types of workouts you need to do for brain health, which is different from the workout you need to do for losing fat, which is different from the workout you need to do for gaining muscle and I just stopped the podcast and said this can’t take up space in my head anymore. And if anyone is curious, I paid to have a DEXA scan before I started doing my purely strength training workouts, and I got an A and my bones were great so my body was responding positively to my workouts. I’m just throwing this out there in case anyone can relate 😊

You deserve more than a little grace. Great video, it’s making me rethink my nutrition, especially the peanut butter. Please continue to share into your 90’s..

I think you have proven to be really good example of WHAT TO DO while we age. I'm about to turn 62 (ex-athlete, marathon runner, snow skier, world traveler) - and I love your videos; I use your skin care and always enjoy learning from you! Thank you, Angie. I hope you never stop!

You were one of my first YT creators that I subscribed to. That had to be soon after you started your channel. I really appreciate your scientific approach. Your channel has greatly improved the quality of my life. I really needed the information you shared today. Many thanks!!!

My dietitian friend says to cut back on carbs when you begin to put on extra weight, and of course sugar is a big no.

This is great information. As a former Personal trainer its not a one size fits all and what she is going is great and is working for her. If you try her workouts and it doesn't work don't get discouraged you may just have to tweak something :)
