Her: Brown Recluse story.

Us: oh, just wait!!

Bio fluorescent is different from bioluminescent. One glows under the proper spectrum of light and one can make them selves glow in the dark.

PSI means [Pounds (per) Square Inch]

There is apparently a platypus Vtuber called RalphypusVT.  That’s the only one who appeared when I looked it up.

My dad had a brown recluse bite as well, but on his stomach. This happened when I was about 13 or so, and he came within 6 hours of dying from it. They had to surgically remove a patch of his stomach, 6 inches across, and 8 deep in order to get rid of all the necrotic tissue. Bonus, while my dad was recovering, he contracted MRSA, and had to be put into quarantine. He recovered, and now, 23 years on, he has a scar on his gut that looks like he caught a musketball there.

I briefly touched on it under another MoreParz video earlier but to further elaborate, crocodilians are technically not dinosaurs. They are however both cousins as they descended from two branches of the once mighty family of reptiles called Archosauria roughly 230 million years ago. Crocodylomorphs arose from one branch called Pseudosuchia, whereas Dinosaurs appeared from the other branch called Avemetatarsalia.

Pseudosuchia gave rise to other lesser known relatives to crocodilians and for a brief time that clade of animals dominated the late Triassic period before losing their spot to Dinosaurs come the early Jurassic. Examples of other Pseudosuchians include the Rauisuchids (think giant land crocs for lack of better description), and the Poposaurids which looked freakishly similar to bipedal non-avian dinosaurs. While Dinosaurs took over like I said, their pseudosuchian cousins still competed against them and over time true crocodilians appeared by the time of the Cretaceous period where truly monstrous species prowled the waterways (such as Deinosuchus, a giant alligatoroid that may have grown as long as 40 feet).

Avemetatarsalia, the other clade of Archosauria, is the branch where true Dinosaurs and even the flying Pterosaurs sprang from, with birds splintering off from the line of dinosaurs called the theropods (basically the group that has all the bipedal carnivorous ones like Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus, meaning avians like the cassowary are technically members of that family). Come the end of the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago where the asteroid impact triggered the mass extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs and pterosaurs, and their pseudosuchian cousins, we are as of now left with one remaining splinter from each branch of Archosauria. Crocodilians from one, birds (aka avian dinosaurs) from the other.

19:55 pounds per square inch…so it’s over a fucking ton!!!

My Mum's a midwife, so I can actually somewhat explain why, after going through it, childbirth doesn't seem as bad in retrospect as other things that cause extreme pain. To be clear, in the moment, childbirth is excruciating for the vast majority of mothers unless you get an epidural (which, if you're curious, is getting pain medication pumped directly onto your spine to numb the pain.) The women you see experiencing this are not exaggerating at the time. The thing is, biology kind of needs our species to do this, and preferably more than once. So one of the many fun traits we've evolved is that at the peak point of giving birth, the brain absolutely FLOODS the body with endorphins, to both numb the pain and cause a mild case of euphoria.

7:07 Bioluminescence is common in deep sea creatures, but that word means they actually generate their own light. Platypus are biofluorescent, meaning the glow only activates under UV lighting.

I also have a history with brown recluse spiders. Based on her description, imagine the damage it did, when my mother was bitten in the vein of her index finger. A fang got lodged in her finger, and the venom went straight into her bloodstream. Long story short, the doctors stopped it about 6 inches from her heart. I was about 8 at the time so the details are a little hazy

just did a google search about 90% of Australia population lives on 3% of Australia landmass also seen a video called 'why 95% of Australia is empty' which is very interesting.

Tarantulas Hawk Wasps are also in the US and are the inspiration for Cazadors in Fallout.

19:21 Florida actually has both! The American Alligator and American Crocodile - the latter is much rarer. But with both, it’s fairly uncommon (as I understand) to see one get past 12 feet.

As another note, they’re not called the Saltwater crocodile for nothing. They’re native to Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea, and parts of Southeast Asia. And there’s only one way they got there :P

20:24 that's called the Death Roll, the crocodiles and alligators do that to wrench the limb of their prey for dismemberment and consume their prey

I got bit by a black widow (while doing pest control for an apt complex, ironically). Never went to the doc but got lucky. Just bad pains and aches and felt sick for a bit. Woke up next day basically fine. Just aches.

... I'm so sorry for you with that story

Here's a tip for distinguishing crocs and aligators. Aligators are thinner than the few crocs of the same size, but also look at their teeth while their mouth is closed. With aligator, you can see teeth from the upper jaw going downward. With crocs, you can see those too, but also the teeth from the lower jaw going upwards

This is the good stuff!

I dig your react. you just got a new fan

remember that Australia started as a British prison colony so actual survivability wasnt really factored into it at first as they would just dump a new batch of prisoners on the shore and GTFO of there but like the natives, the prisoners had to learn to adapt or die and it was quite a surprise to the British Empire when actual settlements starting to appear. like "well ill be damned, would you look at that" kind of thing lol
