I don't think we realized what we had back then... It was just our music. Not that we took it for granted...we loved it. People fought over rock versus disco and most of the people I knew laughed at country... But everybody I knew loved the Eagles. (Everyone I knew called them THE Eagles.) These days I realize how special it all really was.

If there was no Linda Ronstadt, there wouldn't be Eagles. She originally put them together to be her back up band. I miss the '70s. It was more fun being 20 in the '70s than 70 in the '20s.

Randy Meisner’s high harmonies added SO much to this song.

Joe Walsh on the piano, ladies and gentlemen. He's not grafted to that Fender... :)

I’m 58, Gen X, grandma rocker at heart. The Eagles are in my top favorite 3 bands and I had the privilege of seeing them live in 94 on the Hell Freezes Over tour. Individually, they are great. Together they were special. No other words.

Felder on lead guitar here. His fill ins and joy are on full display. I hear JD Souther’s influence too. I miss him.

I’m 70 now and I appreciate that younger people still appreciate how good this music was. I knew then just how good it was.

They all have studio backup singer quality voices as well as each having great lead vocals. It’s a huge part of what makes them so special.

So many multi-talented artists. Notice Joe Walsh on keyboard, expert guitarist.

After 50 years the Eagles just stand out from the crowd. Great variety, great songs, great albums!

Don't worry about it. I still call them The Eagles. Some people would say otherwise. I think they are one of the best bands to ever exist

This band is the definition of the whole being greater than the individual parts

I'm 69 and cannot get enough of the Eagles. How do they do so well?...practice, practice, practice. Glenn Frey has always been my favorite...love his voice! Not bad to look at either.

From Wikipedia: "JD Souther initially wrote the chorus for the song. According to Souther, the band thought it sounded like a hit, but he did not know what to do with it. About a year later, Souther, Frey and Henley gathered for the writing of Hotel California where Souther played the song for them, and the three finished the song."
