I finally went to my first Riftbound Nexus Night!
As someone who's still pretty new to Riftbound, I wasn't really sure what to expect going into my first competitive event. I was still learning the game, figuring out my deck, and trying to get comfortable with the cards.
Thankfully, the Riftbound community made getting started a lot easier. The players at my local store helped me put together a Shen deck and even gave me a bunch of cards and staples to help me start building other decks. I really can't say enough about how welcoming everyone was.

Really taking the time to understand why you play each battlefield, the value your deck gets, and the potential value your opponent could get is critical.
Really studying your sideboard and deck and knowing exactly what your flex slots are and what your optimal side options are for most meta decks makes a big difference. You don't really want to be winging it on the fly as you'll probably be making things worse instead of better.
The last tip I have is really focus on mulligans for common matchups, a generically good hand for most matchups might be unwinnable against some.
An example is my Rek'sai deck verses a Vex deck when I'm going second. If I keep only units which would be generally great against basically any other deck, I have no way to deal with them playing Vex on a battlefield turn 2. I have to intentionally mulligan for a card like Cleave or Blood Rush to give my Rek'sai champion unit enough might to conquer over Vex + 2 drop.
For Shen that might look like making sure you have a reaction speed pump spell ready against a purple deck so they can't gust your 2 or 3 might units when going for your first conquer early game.
