I 1 for 1 traded in a broken truss rod 5 string fender J bass I got for $300 for a brand new in box 2024 J Mascis at guitar center ($500 MSRP). Best finessery to a corporation I've ever done. I have a dozen other guitars, this J Mascis is sublime. The highway robbery I performed is just icing on the cake. The satin neck on it is amazing. It's soooo comfortable playing while laying in bed. The pickups are delicious. They are hot pickups, but clean up so nice. I have an Art Tube MP Studio V3 preamp into a Positive Grid Spark and just use my headphones. The intonation I needed to fully fully fully max out the saddle on the G String, like an uncomfortable amount. Other strings were maybe a 1/4 turn off if any adjustment needed. Action was bang on no adjustment needed. The included allen key worked for my acoustic though. The rhythm circuit with wild delays and loops is awesome to smoke a bowl and get lost in dark sea's swells

I’ve never been a vibrato guy, always fond of Teles and LPs. Started getting into surf rock, and of course had to have a Jazzmaster, so went for a used J Mascis at music go round. LOVE the whammy bar so much more than how a typical Strat’s vibrato works. And the neck on the J Mascis is to die for!

Love u man, love ur review, luv my j. Mascis which i bought no hesitation when i heard my main man J Mascis put his name 2 a jazzmaster i did d only sensible thing yea i got one. Bad news i still have 2 rehearse 😢❤🎉😂

I'm ~ 60. I picked one of these up several years ago because it sounded/played great and was beautiful. It wasn't until AFTER my purchase, that I looked up J Mascis (I typically don't obsess over signature guits). Turns out, he's an old f'r like me with similar propensities. I have a plethora of guitars. This one's a keeper for sure. And, Kudos to J M for putting his name on a great, classic, and Affordable instrument. R&R.

I bought one new, loved it. Then saw one used for $300 in new condition, said "fuck it" and bought that too (put a silver anodized pickguard to change it up). Then just the other day ended up with a 3rd in a guitar/amp trade. Might put a humbucker in the bridge of that one but honestly every time I play it I am just impressed, seems a shame to modify any of them except maybe a different pickguard (to mix it up some).

❤️❤️❤️ I pretty much got the same experience with it.I thought i'll get the wierdo guitar for once idk ,just to give it a shot ,and now its the first guitar i pick up ,to try a riff....beside 10 others 6/7/8 strings that cost 3 times more

Tried one of these last night. My tech owns(owned) one. I fell in love with it the second I tried it. I just PayPal paid Him and will pick it up later tomorrow. It is a ton of value for the $!

The only perfect guitar I ever bought. The best neck on a guitar I own. The P90/ Jazza pickups are warmer than would be on a Jazzmaster, but I love
them.

FIRST!!! I play this Thing over Helix live in my Church in Germany, and it works pretty good! i specially like the Middle Sound for Ambient Worshipsounds! I bought it used and mine has a Treble bleed in the Volume Knob installed, so when i turn down the Gain, it keeps the high frequencys... I love it!!!

To me the pickups on the bridge didnt do anything for me and I changed them out to a metal style pickups its an amazing guitar to play. I play heavily downtuned hardcore/djenty stuff and it rips. One of the best squires I've played on. Neck is amazing and overall playability is up there.
I really like this guitar.
