Not half as bad as the critics would suggest...just watch it on its own level and you have an enjoyable movie!

Fayes accent is all over the place.  Normally i love movies from the 30s and 40s, but even with the wonderful Warner Baxter, i could not tolerate her accent.  Whoa!

The real title of this movie as it was released is 'Barricade' .
'White Lady of the Orient' was a working title...

At the beginning, it is made clear that Shanghai is under attack from the Japanese.  Then at the end, Charles Winninger's character is eager to go to Shanghai.  How does that make sense?
