🔱 *Shiva Purana — Part 8 | Samudra Manthan and Neelkanth Mahadev | The Amazing Story of Halahal Poison* 🕉️

Hello friends, 🙏
Welcome to this divine journey to **Asthalok**.

Today's story takes us to that remarkable time when **gods and demons together churned the ocean of milk**. Everyone desired nectar, but before the nectar could be obtained, a terrible poison emerged from the ocean, threatening the existence of all three worlds.

This poison was **Halahal**.

Due to the effects of Halahal, the atmosphere became toxic. The gods and demons were terrified, and no one had a way to stop the poison. Everyone's hope rested on **Lord Shiva, Lord of Kailash**.

To protect the world, Mahadev swallowed the poison Halahal. The poison remained in his throat, and his throat turned blue. Lord Shiva was then known as—

🔱 *Neelkanth Mahadev* 🔱

In this story, we will learn—

✨ Why did Maharishi Durvasa's curse diminish the gods' power?
✨ Why did Lord Vishnu suggest the churning of the ocean?
✨ Why did the gods and demons churn the ocean of milk together?
✨ Why was Mount Mandara used as the churning rod?
✨ Why did Lord Vishnu assume the Kurma avatar?
✨ Why was King of Serpents Vasuki used as the churning rope?
✨ What divine gems emerged from the churning of the ocean?
✨ How dangerous was the Halahal poison?
✨ Why did the gods and demons seek refuge in Mahadev?
✨ Why did Lord Shiva hold the Halahal poison in his throat?

✨ What role did Mother Parvati play in protecting Mahadev?

✨ How did Lord Shiva get the name **Neelkanth**?

🌊 *Samudra Manthan* is not just a story of gods and demons.**
It also offers a profound message about the churning of our lives and minds. When humans churn their inner selves, hidden anger, ego, jealousy, and negativity are revealed.

Mahadev's Neelkanth form teaches us that instead of spreading the poison in our lives to others, we should control it with patience, restraint, and discretion.
