I’m watching from my living room in Cleveland, Ohio. Nancy Wilson, was,and to this day, one of the most talented, black female vocalists in the entertainment realm.

What Happened to Nancy Wilson? Nothing happened except that she died at 81. She was a three-time Grammy winner and had a very nice career, which started at age 15. She was not Underrated. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform many times in New York and in Los Angeles. She performed many times at the Hollywood Bowl. I don't think anyone can listen to her signature song "Guess who I saw Today" without thinking of her. Anything anyone wants to know about her one can actually hear from her in her many YouTube interviews.

She was (and is) my favorite singer. In the late 50’s and early 60’s I played her records constantly. Green Dolphin Street was my favorite but really I enjoy every one of her recordings. Sadly I never was privileged to see her in person but am so very thankful for her recordings!

Nancy Wilson's voice and the lady she was are the very essence of elegance! Her songs will continue to endure forever. I love "I Can't Make You Love Me.' Everytime I hear the song, Nancy comes alive again! I not only hear her voice, I feel her voice. She would not consider herself to be a "Diva." Nancy was much too modest for that, but younger singers who came after her, who love to call themselves 'Divas", have no clue! They need to take a page from Nancy's book of life. Only there, will they find the true meaning of the word - in that i"Diva" is not a title you choose, it is a title you silently earn! Nancy Wilson was a true "Diva", and her voice will continue to transcend time! Thank you for your beautiful timeless music, Ms. Nancy Wilson!

Watching from Australia. I have been a fan of Nancy Wilson since 1962, after hearing her 1960 album "Something Wonderful" with arrangements by Billy May. Since that time I collected another 28 albums. In 1968, I did meet her at The Grand Gala du Disque in Amsterdam when I was on the same event with another artist. She said she would be in London in the next couple of days and we could meet up as I lived there. Sadly we never met up and life went on. Loved her then, still love her now and sadly she has now passed! Her voice and music we still have.

I was so fortunate to have seen one of her jazz supper club performances. I was always impressed with how she would open her songs, so purposefully and definitely like a hammer striking a nail. She never wandered around in the wilderness, looking for where to begin as so many other singers do. My favorite album is the one with George Shearing.

I was fortunate to know Nancy when she was living in Pipes Canyon, Yucca Valley. I was closer to her husband, Rev. Wiley Burton, who co chaired a hate crimes taskforce with me, and she and I laughed that we usually met in the presciption counter at the local supermarket.. The last time I saw Nancy, after Wiley died, was in Applebees where she was being interviewed. She was elegant, as always, in a Mink Grey two piece Juicey Couture leisure suit, and as always, she introduced me as a long time friend. I am always greatful when I hear her sing, 'Someone to Watch Over me,' because I knew she had found it in Wiley.

If anyone could sing it was Nancy Wilson; her voice puts me in the mind of Dinah Washington. I loved hearing her sing “if I Could and I’m in the Middle.” Beautiful, simply Beautiful!!!
