I had a jack Russell that was 18 years old ,we lost h8m for 7 days .when we found him he had over 100 tics on him😅😅, he lived 2 be 21 😅😅 his name was Kodiak,he had 1 eye😅😅. Never even went to the Vet, except for the eye thing 😅never had him neutered his sister lived to be 20 same deal Mad Dog Jack Russell😅😅

Homemade flea trap: nightlight in a lower outlet, with a small tub of soapy water underneath. We had a HUGE flea infestation years ago, but nipped it using this method. We would get hundreds in the traps each night, until after a few weeks we saw less than ten each night. Try it! Cheap and effective!

Putting rugs, cushions, dog beds etc in a car on a 80+ degree sunny day will kill fleas and eggs. They die at 121 degrees and a hot car will get to 150+ degrees... so plenty hot to kill them.

Also a steam mop is wonderful for hard floors. Once again, it cooks everything.

This is so helpful, but i must say, Zeolite is a definite NO these days... Dr Edward Group / Zeolite (the Aluminum) will increase nanotech production and hydrogels within the body. Zeolite is totally out. Apparently Diatomaceous Earth is still Ok.

I put pure cedar chips around the fence line every spring, put plants like lemon grass, lavendar, citronella etc. on my deck and neither of my dogs have ever had a flea and only 1 tick on one and 2 on the orher all spring and summer last year. Ive been very fortunate.

She forgot to mention turmeric essential oil for repelling ticks. Recently heard that has been proven to be the #1 natural repellent.

We live in the country and walk the pups are the local conservation area. Our dogs with huge allergy list are not on any tick prevention vet med, instead we layer. The EM collars, tshirts sprayed with homemade tick repellent, wiped down with tick gloves. Petted and massages; really checking for ticks. We catch the ticks within 24 hours.

Also, a lint roller will pick up new, still walking around, unattached ticks.

I had a flea plague when moved into our house. I got chickens…they cleaned up the garden really well….i haven’t had fleas for 12 years
I also sprinkled salt on the carpets and vacuumed up after a day or so. I didn’t know about DE back then

My dog doesn't run away from the essential oils when I let her smell them.
I have them all except catnip.
The first time I let her smell them, she sniffed at them briefly and turned her nose away from all the scents.
The second time, she did the same, except for the cedar and eucalyptus; she turned her face away immediately.
So I guess she has the least aversion to citronella and geranium.

I have made an essential oil mix before.
But she found that terrible, indeed.
She rolled on the couch and outside in the grass to try to get it off her.
It drove her absolutely crazy.
A bandana is indeed a great idea.
If she reacts badly then, it is simply a matter of taking the bandana off.

I have used the "Tickless" tag on my dog. If he doesn't wear it he gets ticks. If he has the collar on, he doesn't, so it works for us! They have them for people too.

A note about beneficial nematodes. They eat anything that spends part of it's life cycle in the ground. They don't don't eat things above ground because they live in the soil. They are sensitive to UV so apply in early morning or the evening. It's important to apply them mixed in water. Use a sprayer and spray on soil that is moist, it doesn't have to be soaking wet. The die if they dry out.
