In this episode, we travel south East of Iloilo City to explore two distinct sides of coastal Panay: quiet beachfront living at Assemblage Resort in San Joaquin, and a vital humanitarian mission at Sulu Garden Foundation in Miagao.
First, we check into Assemblage Resort, an oceanfront resort along the southern coast where standard ocean-view rooms start around P4,000 a night and spacious suites offer panoramic views of the water. For anyone considering retiring outside the bustle of Iloilo City, San Joaquin offers peaceful coastal living, accessible beachfront land for around P5,000 per square meter, and a slower pace of life about an hour and twenty minutes from the city center.
In Miagao, we stop at Sulu Garden to meet with the team behind Medical Mission Matters. Since 2014, Sir Peps and his dedicated team of volunteer operating room nurses and surgeons have provided free cleft lip and palate surgeries to over 6,900 children across the country. Following major cuts to international agency funding, 100% of these surgeries now rely entirely on individual donations. With 127 children currently awaiting surgery on the next mission, our goal is to raise $60,000 to cover operations, hospital stays, and follow-up speech therapy.
Even a $10 donation goes directly toward changing a child's life.
