More about Gianmarco:
Gianmarco Soresi is a stand-up comedian, actor, and a little too much for some people. He’s told jokes on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central, Netflix’s Bonding, Don’t Tell, The Real Housewives of New York for some reason, and he was a JFL New Face in 2022. He’s acted in Billy Crystal’s Here Today, Hustlers, The Last OG, and in his theater days shared the stage with some people who’ve gone on to become huge real estate agents. You can see him post the kind of crowdwork clips that are arguably destroying the artform of stand-up comedy everywhere @gianmarcosoresi and he obviously has a podcast called The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi.🎤

Siobhan adamantly correcting Gianmarco that the farmers have guns really spoke to the country kid in my soul. Rural Britain don't fuck about, we're weird and some of us are armed.

I really love that the Venn diagram of my interests seems to be overlapping more and more these last few years

"These Dropout fans, they do leave their houses, astonishingly"

I totally didn't just decide to not leave my house for a party to watch this and work instead

Thank you, Russell, for pointing out how much of the response to Kirk’s murder is class solidarity for rich and famous people.

I already typed out an incredulous comment about how the fuck Siobhan Thompson of all people is getting death threats, but then I realized that she's a woman with a public presence, so of course she gets death threats.

Lol did not expect to hear Right to Roam referenced today! My partner’s grandfather spent decades helping campaign for the laws, even when the main act was passed he still kept fighting to increase the % of land covered. In his last few years, he was still walking a minimum of 10 miles a day. I don’t know how he did it haha

"The Beast of Brassknocker Hill". I like it when Siobhan is talking about something deeply British and her accent gets much more pronounced.

Charlie Kirk died as he lived: Being asked a bad question by a 19-year-old and immediately changing the goal posts.

Librarian here;

Siobhan is overestimating americans access to public libraries. The free library can definitely contain lots of trash, but people have all kinds of tastes- including "trash"

Gianmarco is mean, but in the nicest and friendliest way possible. He's a brat and that's why we like him

"everytime i look at my phone i want to die and everytime i go to the theater i want to live." I love her and the way she speaks ugh

Librarian here: Although I wish people would stop putting mouldy/damaged books in little free libraries, they are actually very useful resources for folks who don't have access to public libraries. Many people don't have a library that is close enough for them to access (and they may not know about or may not be able to access mailing options). Many people don't have a library card (in some places you need an address to get one) or are too scared to enter libraries (for certain marginalized people libraries can be very overwhelming and represent another government institution; they may fines they can't pay and they may be afraid to go in). And also, people like owning books! It's okay to use the public library AND want to own some items of your own when you can't afford to purchase them. I think we will see some studies come out over the next couple of years in library and information sciences that will assess the effect of these little libraries, and I don't suspect they will be overwhelmingly negative. (That being said, I also appreciate Siobhan talking about the issue of right-wing propaganda sneaking into these boxes!!)

Gianmarco hearing "Right to roam" and losing his mind over what is standard in most of the west is actually hilarious

I know this is supposed to be Gianmarco's podcast, but I'm so happy to hear Siobhan say that the next D20 show is being filmed. Love Dropout and D20 so much!

11:45 important distinction that the footpath network is not the same as right to roam. The right to roam is unrestricted access to certain places like national parks and common land, where's the footpaths are public rights of way. In Scotland there is a right to roam throughout the country and it distinguishes where you can't go, rather than where you can.
