Sacha was granted his first access to a juvenile detention center, the one located in Palézieux (VD). For two weeks, he followed the daily lives of the inmates, locked behind the bars of the facility.

Between showers, exercise periods, and cell time, these images are the first to emerge from these walls. And so are the voices of the prisoners. An exclusive immersion into a world apart, with its own unique way of functioning. How are their rooms furnished? How do their days unfold, between mandatory activities and free time? What kind of relationships develop between the inmates and the counselors or guards?

But above all: Who are these young people? How old are they when they arrive behind bars? What do they think about each day? What do they do to occupy themselves?

Discover the testimonies of the young people Sacha met, as well as those of the counselors and guards who support them. The Léchaires facility has a unique status, somewhere between a residential home for minors and an adult detention center. The goal for minors is to support them and reintegrate them into society after their stay, while providing them with the social tools to move beyond their prison status and build a life like everyone else.
