dick will forever be the most fully fleshed out (and almost completely realized) character in the batman franchise. i wouldve loved to have seen morrison’s original plan of letting dick and damian as the dynamic duo for a few more years before bringing back bruce. and although it wouldve never happened in a billion years, i still believe “Batman & Robin Must Die” served as the perfect story to permanently kill off bruce and let the next generation exceed him and his traumas. this is still one of my favorite eras in all of batman

Dick will forever be THE Batman successor. He doesn't NEED to be Bruce, he just have to fight crime and keep the legend of Batman alive. Tim is gonna be the third Batman for sure at some point.
I can't believe you have completed the entire DC and BTM Vol.1. This has to be something historical on YouTube. God bless you Salazar. THE BATMAN youtuber EVER.

Grayson as Batman is the ultimate proof of a legacy character done right. He proved he could be Batman in his own way, not driven by trauma and vengeance, like Bruce, but by hope and love. However, Grayson lacks what it takes to endure the darkness, unlike Bruce.

Battle for the Cowl goes hard if you can convince yourself that it's like the second Jason Todd appearence after Under The Red Hood and that he did not have a character arc in his solo series that had to be reset for him to be the villain.

Interesting way to title the retrospective of Dick's Batman but yes easily imo. I'm glad you're going through Black Mirror & Gates of Gotham here. I really would've loved to Scott Snyder's original Court of Owls which was supposed to end of this trilogy for his Batman. We'll never know, but I'm glad for his time.

One of my favourite moments from this run of Dick as Batman is when he figures out the Joker has been posing as an eccentric author, and says "This is ME. I had YOU figured out when I was twelve.", because I just love the history and experience on show, haha

Yes he was although a different one, like, he wasn't the "Dark Knight of Vengeance" like Bruce was, he was more like the "Heroic Caped Crusader", Dick was a Batman who have the same energy as Superman, so to say.

They should’ve kept this for a few more years

Grayson was the true bright knight.

The reason no one can ever truly replace Bruce is because he's the only man who can look into the darkness and pull it into the light while never breaking.

Like Dick said, he may have a successor, but he will never have a replacement.

I always loved Dick as Batman. Dickbats + Damien Robin is a peak duo.

Grayson lives up to the cowl
One of my favourite eras of Batman
Anytime you upload I just have to watch

I remember the ending of Morrison's Batman run where Dick and Damien are fighting Talia's men, and Damien says "I don't care what anybody says, we were the best, weren't we?"
Now, I don't know if I believe that, but given what happened afterwards, it was a very touching moment.

Anyway, yes, Dick was a great Batman and the true successor to the Batman.

Long Shadows and The Black Mirror are probably my favorite "Nightwing as Batman" stories. Streets of Gotham was a great series too.

That line at about not knowing gothams past always made me think that the court of owls was intended as a follow up to black mirror but the new 52 came out and snyder had to make a story for Bruce

Stephanie Brown Batgirl recommendation - top notch!

The black mirror was not THE perfect batman story but it was A perfect batman story

The whole channel is so fucking good

Question: "Was Nightwing a Good Batman?"
Answer: Does Gotham City still exist? Are there good people in it?
Beautiful video Salazar, as always. Thanks for share.

I had completely forgotten about the gotham city imposters game til you mentioned it here.
