I'm surprised the Iceberg doesn't have "failing the Palace is Joker telling Sae the wrong thing". I think all the "Bad Endings" where you fail each of the Palaces are just Joker retelling the past in a wrong way, assumedly because the drugs messed with his mind enough. Since most of the game is a flashback, none of those bad endings could theoretically happen.
so the "naming the thieves after joker" thing, the game actually stops you if you try to put your name, ryuji or ann. i only found this out because i named myself goro akechi and wanted to name the thieves goro akechi lol
Slight clarification on Joker's stage play name: They actually referred to Joker by a completely different name in each individual performance of the play, with fans even being able to submit name suggestions for him. Including all the performances for all 4 parts of the play, that adds up to Joker being referred to by 48 different names, with Mao Tomokawa simply being the first of these.
About the mental shutdown stuff, it just has a high chance of killing, it’s not guaranteed. Morgana explains in the Kamoshida arc that if they screw up, he could easily die if not given proper care, though it’s a little weird since he doesn’t call it by name. In Ohya’s confidant, her partner Kayo was a survivor of a mental shutdown
I realised they were different when Akechi said they were different in his boss fight. he says "The mental shutdowns aren't the only incidents that people are talking about. There's also the psychotic breakdowns" or something like that and then he explains how he made people go psychotic. The game clearly describes them as different, albeit late game but they still do.
It kinda makes sense it would be late game as well. The public media knows nothing about what was going on(and were likely intentionally misinformed to cover up what shido was doing) and the two do look similar, they probably thought that the incidents were the same thing but just some people survived and some didn't just by chance.
12:42 "Atlus wanted to avoid spoilers" at the beginning, there is a line that says "they're split in two again?" regarding the twins. I doubt Atlus wanted to avoid spoilers with Akechi. The dance doesn't even give that much away
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anyone who is gonna start P5Royal, don't try and fight the Reaper during Flu season. That falling into despair hack was only in the original P5. I found that out the hard way and was forced to flee and defeat the Reaper when I was ready!
My theory regarding Jose is that he was created by Elizabeth, in the same way she and her siblings were created by Igor. That would explain his resemblance to the Velvet Room Attendants, their lack of knowledge regarding his origins, his more doll-like features, and his being tasked to understand humans.
It's seems unlikely that he was created by Philemon or Igor as they make definitively more human-like beings, and if Elizabeth is still going rogue trying to free Door-kun she'd need some kind of assistant of her own. Jose's mission to understand humanity could be directly linked to Elizabeth's quest, as she could be trying to use cognition to destroy Erebus once and for all. We could see this confirmed, if Atlus ever gives us another Arena game... So, in other words THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW~!~!~!
10:04 these are not necessarily doujinshi though, since a doujinshi refers to anything that's self published, so that could be anything like games, manga or books/novels. the whole doujinshi being exclusively adult oriented manga is a bit of a misconception.
That bit about Royal being rushed. I think that actually came from the amount of cut content seen in Royal's files, like the original idea of the Will Seeds being that you would watch flashback scenes of the Palace rulers and even lack of things we were used to in these enhanced versions like the fact that it truly feels like they wanted to give Kasumi a bigger role in the story outside the third semester, similar to Marie in Persona 4 Golden. But I believe they were scrapped not because of time and cost, but rather because they fear that fans will hate these additions to the already existing story, much like what has happened before with the previous rereleases of 3 and 4. Remember Persona 3 FES's addition of having a character come back to life and The Answer? Or Persona 3 Portable's newly added female route having that 'change of fate' thing happen EVERYTIME you max out one specific brand new Social Link? Yeah, fans really hated those and it feels like Atlus doesn't want that to happen again, which is why I think many of those scenes were cut.
I have some information on the “loki is an artificial persona” thing since it was/is a fairly popular fan theory! iirc, the way akechi grabs his head like he is in pain while summoning loki is very similar to how other characters with artificial/unnatural personas summon theirs. Going off this, it can be theorized that Robin Hood was the initial persona he naturally awakened to, with loki being forced out later either by shido or by experimentation (this is encouraged by that bit of text in wakaba’s page of the art book alluding to her doing some kind of experimentation or unsavory shit I can’t 100% remember. There’s a lot of talk about akechi being involved in experiments related to cognition/the metaverse, though there’s no real canon proof.) Of course this is mostly fan speculation but it’s a very fun scenario to explore (Though I remember earlier this year there was some translations of new information that implied that akechi awakened both persona at the same time? So who even knows)
I wasn't actually confused about psychotic breakdown v mental shutdown. When you fight Akechi, he mentions both the incidents where they died and where they just were manipulated to do something
Mementos Mission is great and totally worth a read for any P5 fan
Jazztronik remix isn't unfinished, just kinda weirdly cut for the in-game version. There's an extended version that's been uploaded to YouTube from a whole album with more extended versions of the remixes from P5D.
The PS4 themes are still available, but usually require contacting your regional PS Support branch
Why would we ignore Futaba’s hair color? Her and Ryuji dye their hair. It’s just confirmed in the art book rather than the game. She has her mom’s hair though, so it really wouldn’t matter. But I think she is, since Wakaba didn’t say who the dad way and it seems like she could have been “yeah’d”. The one thing that does confuse me is people say she’s on the spectrum (which I see), but wouldn't Wakaba bee too? She’s said by Sakura that she was kind of similar to how Futaba acts (and I heard this mom of a school shooter say that she and her son were on it as well (Aspergers), so they both could be as well).
I think the confusion between mental shutdown and psychotic breakdowns, comes to how you interpreted the information initially, because I never was confused about them. I felt that it was pretty well explained during Akechi's boss fight.
