Another classic about a lifeboat,Alfred hatchbacks Lifeboat.

This is a very good movie Well worth watching. He was a brave Captain given the situation those decisions will not have been easy to make.

OMG! TO MAKE THE DECISIONS  HE MADE WERE HORRENDOUS. I WOULD NOT WISH THAT ON MY WORST ENEMY😢

The gorgeous Tyrone at his acting best❤❤❤

For anyone interested there is a book which is very similar that details an even more harrowing incident in ww2 where a steam ship out of Singapore was sunk with 100 people and only one life boat managed to get launched.

What the 4 who survived had to do is beyond belief but true.

Very horrifying story.

The book is called The Boat: Singapore Escape, Cannibalism at Sea by Walter Gibson.

From the blurb:

"In 1942 a ship carrying 500 escapees from Japanese-occupied Singapore set sail for Ceylon. Halfway to safety she was torpedoed and sank.

Only one lifeboat was launched—a lifeboat built to carry twenty-eight but to which 135 souls now looked to for salvation.

For twenty-six days, cannibalism, murder, heroism, and self-sacrifice drifted with her.

There were only four survivors."

Another great movie with an excellent script and cast. I strongly recommended to be watched with the entire family. Thank you for the upload and thanks YouTube .

Outstanding film. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Hard decisions go with hard times ! Guilty of being innocent  !

Such an underrated and overlooked film

The classy , older woman just required some final dignity  !     🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😢    Old school British class .

Several times ,  this movie asks the question :

WHAT   WOULD   I   DO ?

PLEASE someone put this CLASSIC on DVD already.

I’m back. Given Mai Zetterling’s account of the filming of this movie, I’m thinking the actors who “died” and were done with the picture were probably grateful. I might have volunteered to jump in the ocean myself.

Taking the "utilitarian" approach, that is, sacrficing those less fortunate for the "greater good." Avery sad case about this was Richard Parker, a teen age cabin boy, who was sacrficed by the captain so he and two adult others could survive after the ship went down. Survival cannibalism at sea. During the Age of Sail, "casting lots" was considered a more fair way to reckon with who survived and who would be sacrificed for the greater good.

I suspect having to live with that would be far worse than any prison sentence.

Never heard of this movie. But definitely an underrated one.
Only one gripe the ridiculous amount of adds.  The tube getting greeder by the day!!!!

I was recommended this movie by the book movies on tv and videocassette. #5 on the watch list (1991-1992) by Steven H Scheuer

Hind sight is 20 / 20 so they say.. Anything can be justified under the Law. No one was held accountable for colliding with the Mine. I have survived a 25 ft Yacht sinking right underneath me. I would not have sacrificed anyone who was still alive. Obviously the de@d would have to go overboard in a dignified manner.. but not the injured, not the old folks. I had to swim 5 miles in the Pacific Ocean to reach land without a life jacket or life preserver all by myself. Sometimes praying for a miracle and not giving into fear works, it did for me. Jesus Christ saved me many times. I survived being a Blue Baby, multiple car crashes including a head-on collision, highspeed motorcycle crashes, two wars, having been shot at at point blank range by a.44 Magnum and a 12 Gauge Shotgun with 00 Bucks Shot...

Great cast movie was very moving!! Tyron power has always been favorite of mine I always thought he was one of the most handsome men I had ever seen!! Was pretty young when I started watching his movies!!! God bless all!!! Pray for the peace of ISRAEL JOHN 3:16 ✝️✡️🇺🇸🙏❤️🇮🇱😇

Spoiler alert...

The dead man's head popping up out of the water just off of Tyrone's left shoulder always catches me.  8:14
