Drain plugs are good but how do you refill the transmission when it’s on the tractor?

Yes, it's an aftermarket drain kit you can buy. Although you'd like to believe different, the mower does not come with a drain plug. How do I know? Because I also asked Google AI, it said no drain plug and it showed me that it got it's information directly from Tuff Torque. She then added that you could buy an aftermarket drain kit. Then she linked me to youtube video showing a guy drilling, tapping, and putting the drain plugs in. Did you buy it new, or did you buy it from somebody that modifies stuff as well?

Why cant you just fill if with diesel and suck it out with a pump ?

1/4" drill bit (16/64th) will works as well if you don't have a 17/64th bit.

Wonder why they don't have a drain plug like your oil PAN on your car. I guess that would make sense. But it would be hard to bleed the air out of the system. So good luck tear the rear end out.That's sweet way to go j.D

Seems to me a 1/8 pipe plug would be just as good 👍

1. Your tap hole is not straight.  2. Use oil to tap a thread.  WD-40 is not thick enough. 3. You have to polish the sealing side (out side) of the case.  You left corrosion in place which will compromise the ability of the drain plug to seal properly.

There are 3 major problems with this modification on a K46:
1. The drain plug boss locations are NOT low enough, so after this modification, not all of the fluid will drain out.  The drain plug locations are not the lowest part on the cover.! Aprox. 4 or 5 ounces (15%) of old fluid will always remain, even after draining via this modification.
2. Drain plugs should be magnetic. Good luck finding short, magnetic plugs.... Long magnetic plugs must be modified by shortening. Otherwise too long magnetic plugs will interfere with the inside the transaxle. Or you could stack crush washers, which is a bad idea.
3. Once installed, you can not add fresh fluid, because the fill port is still blocked by the cooling fan. Its easier to simply remove the transaxle, making this modification absolutely pointless in my opinion.

Its a shame that Tuff Torq enginers do not redesign the lower housing by moving drain plug boss location to the LOWEST point of the lower housing. And also redesign the top housing by moving the fill port location, to an area that is more easily accessable once installed, and dosent interfere with the cooling fan. A optional dip stick would be iceing on the cake!

Not to rain on your video (it was good) but I see no point in adding drain plugs. Why? Because you can’t get to the filler hole after the oil is drained. Now if you could easily access the filler hole from the top without having to remove the whole transmission, then it’s a no brainer to add the drain plugs. Changing the filter will always be a pain in the wazoo.

Leave it full of oil and drill from bottom, will flush out cut material

When Tapping a hole, make 3/4 turn then reverse 1/4 turn to break off cuttings.   I would drill both Bolt heads crosswise and safety Wire them so they couldn't come loose in any occasion.  It would have been helpfull to show the Refill (Quantity and Type) and Bleeding of the air entrained.

Have you ever tried to drill and tap from the out side in so you font have yo split the case. Just a thort.
