🏡 High Hopes, Higher Disappointment! Join me, all the way from Victoria, on a special journey to Queensland for a handover inspection of a client's new home, valued at over $600,000. Built by an award-winning builder, this property was supposed to be a showcase of top-quality construction – or so we thought!

🔍 QBCC's Oversight? Think Again! Expecting nothing less than excellence, especially under the watchful eye of the QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission), what I found was utterly surprising. Spoiler alert: It's not the high standard we were led to believe!

🚧 Inside the Inspection: The reality? A total shemozzel. We're talking floating brickwork, non-compliant roofing, and more. But that’s not all - a neighborhood walkabout revealed similar issues with other homes. It begs the question: What's going on, QBCC?

🏘️ Beyond the House: This video isn't just an inspection; it's an eye-opener to an industry-wide issue in Queensland. Watch as I uncover the uncomfortable truths of what some builders are really up to.

📣 Get Ready for a Ride: This is more than just a house tour; it's an inspection adventure that will leave you shocked and informed. Thank you for watching, and let's dive into this together. LET'S GOOOOO!

Just look at the stats for the QBCC. Thousands of fines issued every year for late financial reporting and late licence fees. Almost zero issued for dodgy work and contract breaches. The worst government department in the state.

Industrial and corporate awards, about as real and as meaningful as an Oscar these days.

How bad does a builder get that they can't even do the foundations correctly.

Mate, you went to a random house and gave the owner a free inspection, we need more professionals like yourself.

I'm a retired qld builder, I was a hands on builder , i didnt sit in an office all day , I got my hands dirty, the big building companies are the problem. This is disgusting.

I worked construction on the Gold Coast in the 90s. Everybody was dodgy to save money/maximise profit. My girlfriend was getting a house built and the day before the floor pour I went to check the rebar. I can read plans. I noticed some rebar was not installed in a few places and saw the bundles of steel on the ground. I spoke to the foreman and he got his knickers in s knot asking 'So you know about these things?'. Yes. I said. We paid for it, it's on the plans, put it in. I'll wait. He was not happy as I watched him. I then was there before the pour to makes sure it was done properly.

Award winning builder but he sits at home and subcontracts out the work

The builder was expecting a concrete path around the house would hide so many problems.

Flat roofs are the stupidest idea ever in residential builds. A hip and gable with normal gutters is hard to screw up

some of this stuff is heart-breaking. These are people's homes.

The builder isn’t a clown, he’s the entire circus

I had to laugh about 20 minutes in when i realised you were giving a runny commentary on how poor the builders were right in front of an open glass door with the builders themselves stood on the other side 😂

Watch your back mate,Your becoming a legend :) What part of water proofing method they don't understand ? I think they should build a fish tank first to understand what water proofing is !!

So we had a house that we ended up actually taking to court and the QBCC due to not meeting contract requirements. The issue is QBCC in most areas does a local "board" I guess and it is always local large builders on it. So a local builder judges his mate and says nah thats reasonable. When you show any standards or laws they say nah thats not really how I'd see that and write you off. Theres absolutely no recourse for you unless you are willing to go to a multi year hundreds of thousands of dollars lawsuit. We ended up settling for about 50k and doing all the works ourselves at a cost of about 150k as we couldn't afford the mult year battle.
