This video was filmed when I was a high school student (1972) when I visited Nunohara Signal Station with my late father. Please understand that the image quality is inferior as it was converted from an 8mm film camera to DVD.
At that time, there was no general-purpose video equipment, and I fondly remember filming with a silent 8mm film camera and recording with a cassette tape recorder, which was just starting to become popular at the time.
Initially, I didn't intend to release this footage, but now that 50 years have passed and we've reached a turning point in history, I've decided to release it with the hope that future generations will also learn about that time.
I hope you enjoy watching this record of the last day of the D51 triple-header at Nunohara Signal Station on the Hakubi Line, a mecca for the steam locomotive boom that swept the nation in the late 1960s.
