The choice to let the baseline drive the song was brilliant. Gladys Knight and Marvin treated it as a straight forward Motown sound. CCR took it to a different level. Great reaction, thanks. One one thing, for the boxy tom drummer to hold the whole thing together for eleven minutes, amazing.

I don't think you'll ever be disappointed with a CCR song.

I love Marvin and CCRs versions. Both are great.

Love this cover as much as the original.

Thanks for listening to the long version!
Greetings from Germany and let the good tomes roll! ✌

The only way to listen is the Long version, so thank you for that! ✌️❤️

He wrote Proud Mary and Tina Turner made a hit with it.

Marvin Gaye's version is also a cover. Miracles recorded it first but Gladys Knight released it first.

John Fogerty is also the only artist I know of that was taken to court for sounding like himself. The cool thing is he took a guitar to court and played both songs for the judge. That’s a concert I wanted to attend. 😂

They sound southern but they’re actually from the San Francisco Bay Area

CCR's best cover song was "I Put a Spell on You"...even Screaming Jay Hawkins thought that it was the best version of his song...

It was first recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips (1967) and made into a massive #1 hit by Marvin Gaye (1968).
The Creedence Version: Creedence Clearwater Revival recorded an 11-minute swamp-rock cover of the song for their 1970 album Cosmo's Factory.

I'm from Louisiana and we thought they were from the South. No one was more surprised than we were to learn they were from California!! Great Swamp Rock!! I like this version the best, but I really like Gladys Knight and the Pips, too, then Marvin Gaye. You definitely need to check out "Born on the Bayou"!! I was fourteen when this came out. I'm seventy-one now.

Tahy have so many good songs, and one that always puts me in a happy place is Looking Out My Backdoor.
Enjoy

It's a Barry Gordy song. FIRST RECORDED BY GLADYS KNIGHT and the PIPS. Then Marvin did a the next year, then CCR did it 2 years later......

Rule #1: Don't interrupt a solo!

There is also a version of Marvin singing it where they removed the background noise and music. It's just his voice and it is 🔥, my favorite version and I only marginally even like this song.
