I also went ahead and rewrote the side missions for this game because I'm obviously very cool: https://youtu.be/CkkuYFbvE6M

Damn the part with Alfred giving Tim the shotgun was actually a really powerful moment

I think that the game should’ve focused on the history of Gotham, the 5 original families basically controlling it, and the centuries long conflict with the league. So the Wayne’s and Arkhams aren’t part of the court, but the Elliot’s, Kane’s, and Cobblepot’s are. I’m thinking about writing a small treatment and seeing this video makes me want to do something similar

I love the idea that Penguin has always been cast out from the Court of Owls. I think you could go further and imply thats where he gets his name, like he's "never going to be an Owl, just a pathetic penguin" idk I feel like theres a connection there.

I think for the solo missions, they should be more in depth with villians for each character. Tim gets Anarky and it's a little buddy up, Babs gets Firefly or Killer Moth. Jason maybe Joker or Scarecrow and Dick gets two face maybe? small little 5 minute story bits that introduce characters. Or maybe this could be dlc idk I just want Anarky to be comic accurate

Having Tim focus on bringing Bruce back via a Lazarus Pit is a great thematic thru line, and I love how it resolved in your re-write. Great job!

it would be nice if the game gave more importance to the different characters

I like this but my big problem with the game is the same as it is in the video, the Court of Owls aren’t used as the main villain despite being labelled as the main villain

This seems a lot more cohesive than what we saw in the game.

Something that occurred to me as I watched this was that I think there were potential gameplay opportunities that weren't utilized, but would have made the story more impactful.

For instance, instead of opening with Bruce's death (cool as the cutscene was), they could have had the opening scene of the game be you playing as each of the knights, taking down a different villain, cutting back and forth between each location. Each character is faced with a different challenge (e.g., stealth, fighting, traversal, puzzle-solving) with the difficulty spiking sharply as you cut back and forth between them. You nearly fail as each character, only to be rescued by Batman, who helps you finish the level and take down the villains, establishing that you're overwhelmed and Batman is the guy who saves you. You're not just told that this is how your character feels, but you experience it with them.

There's probably a better way to implement it, but it just seemed like such a missed opportunity to work within the medium.

“Where Tim suggests killing Talons and everyone is like Ahhhh… Fuck you.” That had me lmao 😂👏👏

While I enjoyed Gotham Knights gameplay. I do agree the story was definitely it's weakest point. It's like they created the ultimate Batman sandbox first and THEN created a story around it.
So it's great to see someone actually fix it. Now, if we ever get a sequel or something hopefully the devs learn from their mistakes.

Congratulations! Like what you did with Arkham Knight you fixed some of the main problems while also improving on the good mechanics of the game. The post credit scene with Kate Kane sets up a good sequel game. Also for what I would have changed I add a few more Side missions with other classic Batman villains because I felt it was lacking in that regard only focusing on Harley, Mr. Freeze, and Clay Face.

I think it would have been great if each knight had their own side-campaign specifically dedicated to them, with one villain for each of them to fight as the boss. It would’ve also been cool to add more members of the bat family as dlc, such as Azreal, Batwing, Batwoman, etc.

I don't know why but I like the ideas of Tim not getting rest trying to figure out what Bruce's case was Barbara trying to move on from the death of her father while also trying to honor him as Batgirl and as Barbara dick not being able to slow down but I don't see him being a Playboy since I see him as a loyal person but I do see him as the one who would take over the company on Alfred's behalf but dick thinks Alfred should took over or Lucius since he doesn't believe he is ready yet and I like the idea of Jason having nightmares of Bruce basically calling him a failure

And for the penguin I like the idea of him not being able to join the court of owls of two reasons most of the members just see him as well a pathetic penguin to say but his grandmother doesn't want him to join because she seems like she doesn't love him but she does and don't want him to get into the danger that the court brings

37:58 woah woah, watch that difficulty meter, do u know how HARD it was to beat her?! She was literally like an elden ring boss because I used Tim

Great video!
26:25 this right here was supposed to be a joke though. I think you know that.
Honestly, what broke my immersion on that scene was Montoya’s reaction to realizing Jason was alive.

As for 29:41 - Ra’s and the Court are pretty much opposites. The Court represents the corruption Ra’s wants to extinguish.

He was furious at Batman for never seeing the bigger picture and, in his naive way of crime fighting, allowing the Court (although unintentionally) to rule Gotham unopposed. Bruce not even knowing about them is just further proof that he has failed Gotham and is not fit to fight injustice.

Y'know, the more that I see what happens in the story, I can see similarities with other Batman projects besides court of owls. The story sounds like it was a mixture of court of owls, son of Batman (movie), and Batman bad blood.

Overall, great video and rewrite. My only nitpick was the league change because the league of shadows are a real faction in the comics, so I didn't see the need to change it. Well maybe we could have changed it to the league of Lazarus (another faction) because of the heavy use of Lazarus powers (Wouldn't be exactly like the comics version, but it could work).

I enjoyed this game a lot (Currently on my 2nd playthrough) But I feel I would I have enjoyed it a lot more with this story. Are you going to do a rewrite for side villains stories, I feel they were too short and too few, I feel there should have been at least two more big bads, with at least five missions for each villain. But I'd like to hear others views.
