Winter mud crabbing can be tough. When the water cools down, there aren't always a lot of mud crabs around, but that's all part of crabbing — you don't get a great haul every time you head up the creek.

In this video I'm back checking the pots and showing you what winter crabbing is really like when the crabs aren't playing the game.

I've also included some footage from a previous trip of one of the biggest crocodiles I've come across up these creeks.

This bloke was absolutely massive — incredibly wide through the body — and unlike plenty of crocodiles I've seen over the years, he wasn't in any hurry to leave the bank. He just sat there watching.

When you're working in crocodile country, you never forget whose territory you're in. I kept my distance and gave him plenty of room.

Even on the quieter crabbing days, there's always something happening up these creeks. That's what keeps me coming back after nearly 50 years of mud crabbing.

Filmed with GoPro cameras and powered by Yamaha Outboards.
