Hollywood has always been a cesspool of narcissists. When I was young and very naive, I used to believe that these people were somehow above such common pettiness because of their extraordinary looks and talent as if they were somehow demigods. Now in my 50’s, being just an obnoxious jerk is probably the nicest thing that I can say about the entire industry.

Offstage, Miss Davis and Miss Hopkins traveled in the same social circles. Davis told director Edmund Goulding " Miriam is a perfectly charming woman in social situations. But if you're working in a scene with her...."

I heard from another word another word another reporter that Marie Dressler was one of the nicest people in Hollywood and Hollywood loves her so much when she came down with cancer. It was Louis Mayor, who said don’t tell her we’ll just let her work if she wants to and be as kind as you can be so that she could end her life doing what she loved the best. I don’t know. I’d hate to think that was all wrong and the other reporters part.

Lana Turner’s mob boyfriend Johnny Stompanado was jealous of Lana’s onscreen performance with a young Sean Connery. He flew to London to confront Connery with gun in hand. Connery disarmed him and knocked him out COLD!! Lovely.

I don't know if people knew that at one time Gloria Swanson was involved with Joseph Kennedy. Well they were involved for years. That is til Constance Bennet made a play for him. But their relationship didn't last as long his and Gloria 's did!
