You say you trust God—but is there still one part of your life you refuse to place in His hands?**

In this powerful Gospel-centered Christian message connected with **Joby Martin**, we explore one of Jesus Christ’s final statements from the cross:

*“Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” — Luke 23:46*

These were not words of defeat.

They revealed a life of complete trust, obedience, and surrender to the Father.

Jesus did not begin trusting God at the cross. His entire life had been aligned with the Father’s will—from His ministry, to Gethsemane, to His final breath.

And that creates a difficult question for every Christian:

*Have you truly surrendered your whole life to God—or only the parts you are comfortable giving Him?*

Many believers trust Jesus for salvation while still holding tightly to their:

money, career, future, relationships, sexuality, family, reputation, success, plans, and need for control.

The source confronts exactly this tension: people may trust God in many areas while still keeping certain parts of life “in their own hands.”  It later applies that surrender to finances, sexuality, marriage, children, occupation, ministry, and other good things that can become idols when they replace God.

This sermon explores:

*trusting God, surrender to God, letting go of control, Luke 23:46, Father into Your hands I commit my spirit, Jesus on the cross, Christian surrender, lordship of Jesus, trusting God with money, trusting God with your future, Christian obedience, surrendering relationships, surrendering sexuality, idolatry, salvation by grace, Gospel of Jesus Christ, faith and obedience, Christian freedom, Gethsemane, not my will but Yours, and following Jesus completely.*

The question is not simply:

*“Do you believe in God?”*

The deeper question is:

*“What are you still refusing to place in His hands?”*

Maybe you trust God with eternity but not your finances.

Maybe you trust Him with your soul but not your career.

Maybe you say Jesus is Lord while still controlling your relationships.

Maybe you have surrendered your past but refuse to surrender your future.

Maybe the thing you are holding is not even sinful.

It may be something good:

your marriage, your children, your ministry, your calling, your success.

But even good gifts become dangerous when they take the place that belongs only to God.

Jesus shows us another way.

In Gethsemane He prayed:

*“Not My will, but Yours.”*

On the cross He prayed:

*“Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.”*

And the Gospel tells us why we can trust those hands.

Jesus lived without sin.

Jesus willingly laid down His life.

Jesus died for sinners.

Jesus rose again.

Salvation is not earned through moral performance or religious achievement. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

The source ultimately calls both unbelievers and Christians to stop trusting themselves, call on the Lord, and place their whole lives into God’s hands.

You do not need more control.

You need deeper trust in Christ.

**Your future belongs in His hands.
Your money belongs in His hands.
Your body belongs in His hands.
Your family belongs in His hands.
Your whole life belongs in His hands.**
