Cool review, man! Love the background on your relationship with the band. Interestingly enough, I was never a big fan of Anthrax, but this one, at least for now, it’s on my list of albums of the year. And I got used to the cover as well… haha!
Omg so excited to see you review this!!! I only listened to like half of it, but I liked it. It's good music! You're right that the best way to describe it is just "good", not spectacular but not bad. My favourite song so far is "Everybody's Got A Plan". The art is so weird and surrealistic, which is cool in my opinion, I just like weird stuff like that! Thanks for sharing your opinions 🤘🤘🤘
Great review! Definitely a grower of a record, but considering the 10 year wait, the hype was pretty impossible to live up to. It's a strong album with some great moments, but overall not top shelf Anthrax. It will still be on my list of albums of the year, but not as high as I'd hoped. Watch It Go is their best song of the reunion era IMO... very Spreading The Disease-esque!
At first, it was just okay to me... like a 7 out of 10. But I’ve already listened to it probably about 8 times over the last 4 days))). With every listen, I’ve been liking the album more and more. Right now, I’d definitely give it an 8.5 or 8.75 out of 10. Of course, I’d love more thrash and speed, but then again, that was never really this band's thing.
Awesome review Jeremy. I like albums a hour long (if it's good), I'm too lazy to change it lol. Have a 5 disc cd player, again I'm too lazy lol. Actually l'm not lazy. Had a accident 33 years ago. Spend most my days doing the horizontal hold.
Good review Jeremy, I agree with your overall assessment of this album. I'm a first three albums Anthrax guy, that wlll never change really but this new one is arguably the best since Persistence Of Time for me. I don't like the Bush era at all and I thought the last two with Belladonna were pretty average. Edge Of Perfection is my favorite song here, it's a bit different with it's melodic parts mixed with some blast beats and tremelo riffing, I like that one a lot. The rest is ok to good on the whole. It's not the best album I've heard this week and it won't appear on any best of lists but by their own standards I'm not disappointed. 8/10
I was never the biggest Anthrax guy, but yeah, I agree. I thought it was decent at best. Nobody has come close to Testament's last one, when we're talking strictly about the legacy thrash bands.
I thought Anthrax's new album was excellent. I liked Among the Living and Sound of White Noise. I'm planning to pickup the CD soon. Jeremy, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats new album Shades of Midnight is pretty good.
Decent Anthrax album and I preferred it to the latest Megadeth and Exodus albums but like you said just missing that extra something. Was the 10 year wait worth it, maybe.
Let's be truthful here they have 2 really good albums spreading and among the living they shouldn't be in the big 4 it should be testament or exodus they are by far the worst of the big 4.
